To surf the internet. I was or trying to run Internet Explorer with Silent Hunter IV and it crashed my game. I don't know why.

Ok. What I'm trying to get at is why do you have both Internet Explorer AND Firefox installed. For example, I have both installed on my computer but I only use Internet Explorer to go to Microsoft's website. They do not allow other browsers to access certain aspects of their website, therefor the need to have Internet Explorer.

So here's my advice, stop using IE. Use FF. I use FF with every game, application, pron video running in the background and have had no crashes of anything to the best of my recollection.

![]() Yes, I do run them both at the same time. You definitely have a strange problem here. ![]()

One day I'll do a guided tour of my Firefox installation. IE users will be very humbled. I even automatically run IE inside Firefox when I navigate to a website that attempts to lock Firefox out. Microsloth websites are famous for that. No problem. See what happens if you try to run Firefox from within IE! That would be like Linux. I can read and write NTFS partitions all day long, load up Excel and Word files (in fact, all Microsoft formats) and rewrite them back where they came from from free Linux and all free applications. However, Windows refuses to even look at ext3 partitions and Microsoft applications don't understand open document formats at all! Duh! There's a pattern here.

Well RR, you use the internet and OS a lot different than a user like myself. I have IE and search with Bing and Google. The internet is just a tool to get information and investgate things of my interest. I do not manipulate files or attempt to create programs to run on webpages etc. I'm just a simple end user who likes to surf around looking for things of interest, read the news and participate on forums of interest. I grab the occasional mod files. I email. I play games online like COD WoW. That is the extent of it for me.

RR, you'll have to show me that IE in Firefox thing you talked about. That'll be the last shackle I cast off from IE.

IE Tab It's as configurable as you could ever want, letting you build a list of websites that automatically use an Internet Exploder tab and also allowing you to switch browsers back and forth in the present tab with a single mouse click.
I never run Internet Exploder unless it's safely captive within Firefox. ![]()

Shameless teaser: I have a little green radar screen on my status bar that on mouseover pops up an animated radar screen of local weather. It has options for different sources and types of radar/satellite images/whatever that you want in the window. Ghostery finds, identifies, and if you choose, emasculates "web bugs," those items on a webpage that call home with your browsing behavior, usually for advertising purposes. For instance, right now Ghostery says Subsim is using two trackers: Google Adsense and Google Analytics and is asking me if I want to shut 'em down. Naw, I have mercy on Subsim! Zero blocked. ![]() How about a Greasemonkey script that adds links to all ebay pages, giving you one click access to just the seller (or buyer's) negative feedback? Ebay tries to hide that stuff. For me it's part of every Ebay page! Firefox is just stuffed with these useful extensions that once you have them you can't live with IE any more.

I got firefox recently, and I'm loving just the base program without extensions!

Yeah, it feels a little bare with no extensions, but it just does everything so well! I have a feeling Chrome will come along, since it is built with the same philosophy as Firefox, but it's not in the same league yet. Watch that space though.
