Well then its a regional accent. I don't understand the difficulty though. Many countries outside of the US have this. Germany has Hoch Duetsch and the Bravarians. They seem to get along.

That has always bothered me. There are some highly educated people who speak like that.
But they don't spell "idea" with an "R" and that's the whole point.
