Something fishy here.

The only story written about this seems to be the Burns' story about what is reported in a British Tabloid.

Other news sources just seem to be copying the Burns' story.

Has this story been confirmed by a source not quoting a tabloid?

Time for the golden oldie me thinks:

An elderly British gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane.

Hehe, Radio 4 has a program called 'Any Questions' followed by it's sister show 'Any Answers'.
Anyway, long story short, some old military fellow commented that he could see no reason to go to the D-day anniversary, in the same way he saw no reason to go there in 1944

Dry sarcasm at its best.
