#2 + DiD. I'm too lazy not to use the Weapons Officer. I'm finally weening myself of the external views, but there I am.

How were the scopes stabilized?

Type 2, I only get to play sporadically so I have to make the best of it.

Super hard core. If I die in the game, I will go drown myself in the bath tub

84% + D.I.D. I use the god's eye (which im thinking of turning off)
and weapons officer assistance. I wont say no if you tell me to do manual on a shot and i will probably find my target if its less than 5000km but i believe that 100% is too much for one man.

:rotfl: @ Neal

Compared to that I'm soft as baby cheeks

Okay seriously I play at 85%. Weapon officer assistance on to identify targets, scope stabilization on for OLC gui and external view for eye candy. I guess I play D.I.D because I just started a new career after I was sank. I just haven't thought about it before.
And I use manual navigation and I'm going out there to do my job, but most of all I'm trying to bring my crew back home.

#1

I have my own recognition manual, I occasionally plot attacks on paper using pencil and compass and strait edge, I time ships by stop watch, and even have one notch on my belt for a 1x time compression patrol of about 2 weeks duration.

next step, decorating my room with encased red lights!

100% realism, but don't play DiD. I don't want to spend several evenings just to lose my life. After all, I'n also expending my real life! It's only a game...

See my sig. I tweak several config files via SH3 Commander for even more realism regarding equipment availability, patrol areas, sensor capability..., and I impose additional restraints on myself in areas the game does not model, such as reloading torpedos from external storage, max snorkeling speed, etc. I patrol the area BdU sends me to. I adjust my TC to reduce sightings of ships but maintain numbers of aircraft attacks.

When I lose a sub, I don't start over at the beginning of the war, when life is relatively easy. My new career starts up where the last one left off, but with a rookie crew. If a Kaleun retires, my replacement career gets a somewhat more experienced crew than rookie but usually not nearly as experienced as the retired one.

I don't do my own star sightings or other advanced navigation.

So maybe that makes me about a # 0.6

2 + D.I.D.

I like external views and I use 'God's eye view' as I find the errors in the stadimeter too frustrating.

#2+DID.
External on, but use it only for screenies. Well, almost only for that...
Gods eye on and no, I´m not going for manual targeting but I have no weapon officer helping me. Makes 80%.

Is that semi realistic

#2 at 86%, D.I.D like Roald Larsen, Gods Eye ON, everything else off.
TC usually below 128 except for empty homeward runs.
Hoping to understand how to plot 100% manually soon.
Full manual torp setting in the TDC, not even using the datapad.

I'm assuming "DiD" means "Dead I'm Dead." Been here 5+ years or so and never saw that term used here before.

In any event #2. It isn't "realistic" for the captain to madly rush from station to station like he's the only competent crewmember on board (or the only one on board).

As long as you're enjoying the game, it's the right level for you.

Now excuse me, my U-boat just succumbed to a 4 hour depth charging and I have to go kick my girlfriend out of the bathroom
