if i were you i would get sh4 gold edition the hold off on sh3 because i heard that sh5 is in the works and they hope it will be out for xmas 2009.

there is speculation that it could very well be a new reworked version of sh3 that uses the newer game engine and grafics.

so untill you know for sure what sh5 will be you might want to wait.

@Mash
Surely you have some other game/games that you can delete off your HD so you will have room for both, then you decide which one is best.

Thanks you guys. You are all too funny. A typical bunch of sailors . I ordered SH3 last night since I know more about Uboats. Now, I have to figure out which other mods to get in addition to GWX3.

Where did you hear that they hoped it would be out by Christmas? When I talked to Dan back in October all he said was that it was in the works; not even what it would be. Speculation is nice, but is there new information I missed?

I see that I'm a bit late to bring this up, but my reluctance about re-installing SH3, after I did my last OS reformat and install, was the presence of the Starforce copy protection, included with SH3. Instead, I decided to pick up SH4, in order to get back into the genre.

As far as I know, there never was a patch that disabled the installation of the Starforce drivers. But, since no one else mentioned any concerns about Starforce, maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe the downloadable version of SH3 doesn't have Starforce?

Got mine on CD, no starforce........
I think the later editions didn't have it.
Roll on SH5!......... by the time it comes out I might have a machine that might run it.

I have both SHIII, and SHIV installed, and multiple installs of each. Lately I`ve been playing SHIV, of which I have RFB+RSRDC, TMO 1.63, FOTRS, all of which I switch between. Right now I`m on my second mission of my first campaign in FOTRS, and having a good patrol. I bought the SHIV Gold addition awhile back, and I`m really enjoying it. Puts

it was in a post on ubi said a dev let slip something about a xmas present for players but its all gossip at this stage since ubi has no official comment on it except to say no comment but they didnt deny it either. which furthered speculation about it but, it could have refered to xmas 2010 but no matter, if its true and its this xmas im sure we'll here something by summer or if not we know its not gonna happen.

It's been so long since I've been to Ubi it didn't occur to me that it might have come from there. Thanks.
