Aye, people have changed so much over these years.
I must say I'm quiet dissapointed how it turned out.

The rest of your post sounds good, but memory doesn't serve you correct. Downunder you may have called it VP Day; here we called it VJ (Victory Japan) Day. But it wasn't anywhere close to November 11, which commemorates the signing of the 1918 armistice ending the FIRST World War. VJ Day was August 14, 1945.

My mistake, memory mixed the wars.

I went looking for a link, this explains why I couldn't find one. Thank you.

Yep. It is still a state holiday here in Rhode Island. The last state in the Union I believe to still celebrate it.

They may have been well noted about it, but you will find this exists in many cases of occupation. It doesn't matter who is occupying who, it happens even with the best of efforts to avoid it.

I was meaning more like the old style Pre gunpowder armies.

You know before ground combat sucked. :P

You know, planes without guns would be pretty awesome.

Dogfights with swords.

I guess the people involved decided to overlook this and instead concentrate on the fact that the biggest war in human history was finally over. I'd say that it'd be something to celebrate.

BTW, he did run down the street, kissing several girls on the way, it's just this one that caught on film.
