Default Missing Buttons?

There doesnt seem to be an abandon ship button nor a way to radio for help - IE, we're out of fuel from depth charge damage....come pick us up.

....but then it says sub destroyed and I fail.

I like the realism aspect - staying alive is key, even if the boat does go down. I'm surprised/dissappointed this isnt in. Wasnt there an abandon ship button in SHII, if I recall correctly.

Does any existing mod address this?

SH2 did have that, SH4 doesn't as far as I can tell. I do wish it had a feature where you could steer by using your engines to get you home. My rudder was destroyed once and I had to beach the boat on the China coast. At least we didn't drown. Main thing is don't run out of fuel.

I don't believe any boat in WWII called for help and got a tow home......hold it! U-505 got a tow, but not home.:rotfl:

I don't know where they got the idea you were asking for a tow home.... ....quite a leap there.

There were indeed a couple of recorded instances where submarines were disabled or grounded and had to call for help from friendly forces. Some were taken aboard other vessels and thus rescued..some were never found.

Sadly as you observed , there is no such radio for help option at your disposal.

On the other hand ,if that were a solution you could readily employ just to avoid watching your speed, range, and fuel consumption...then I must say that would be an immersion killer too..big time.
