I was glad to be able to finally own a hard copy of U-Boat Missions and have it all on a single DVD disc.

The packaging made me sad though. The new plastic box is dwarfed next to my original copy of the game, the "Bonus Materials Included" version. I'm not complaining by any means, I'm thankful to own a hard copy. It may be the last hard copy of any Silent Hunter game we see given the growing trend of Direct2Drive and Steam being utilized for new games.

I guess I'm getting old.

I saw this gold edition release, almost makes me want to buy SHIV.

No, I haven't even played IV yet.

Tell me something please, does IV give control over the dive planes or at least a degree of rise? (normal dive / normal rise)?

Follow up to my main point:

Yesterday I ran across a 10,000 ton tanker that I could not possibly get within range of due to persistant air cover.

I decided to try for a 4000 foot shot using slow settings.

I did the 2 stadimeter range esitmates, asked for speed and course estimates, input them, turned on PK,adjusted AoB and fired four fish.

My jaw dropped as I watched all four slam into the tanker amidships.

I'm convinced now, beyond any doubt, that manual targeting was "fixed" in 1.5..at least the Gold Edition. Before I would never ever have attempted a shot like that..much less got it to succeed...
