AMD chips for the past couple of years have been beating the snot out of the Intel chips for overall speed and reliability.

Not anymore. But thats competition. Whatever turns up, it is good for the consumer!

Even though they are slower, I'm still partial to AMD so far. Intel has to make a CPu that completely kicks the snot out of it before I switch.

That's true. I just think the AMD price/performance totally beats intel.
