Hello Firewall,
since you have quite some posts here i cannot believe you give up ![]() What i did when encountering all kinds of problems: 1. Deinstall. First deinstall GWX, SH3 commander, mods, what ever shows up in your software list. For the final de-installing of SH3 use your SH3 disk, put it in the DVD player, and when the installation menu pops up, deinstall from here (!). If it does not pop up automatically run the autostart.exe or what's it called in the main directory of the dvd. Go to system settings/software and look if the SH3 uninstall entry is still present here - if yes, click on it, and it should vanish. Delete the start menu entries manually, they will still be there. Go into the C:\programs\ubisoft folder and delete the SHIII folder from here. It would not let me delete it without some enforcing lol. Not sure what happened there, but i finally got rid of it. You can also delete the Ubisoft folder, but not if Silent hunter IV is installed ... ![]() Then delete the SH3 folder in MyFiles. If there are still remnants from GWX or any mods in some folders, hunt them down, delete them all. Run "regedit" from the execute window. Search for "Silent Hunter", and delete all entries that have a 3 behind it - not 4 if you also have Silent hunter IV installed. Also look for "SH3" - there might be some, but look closely if it is not an entry belonging to another program - you will easily see it. You do NOT have to delete the SH3 settings of any Nvidia folder, since those are standard settings for SH3 that came with the Nvidia driver to adjust special settings, and automatically load them when you start the game. If you have an ATI card or whatever this may or may not apply for those also. Close regedit and reboot. 2. Shut down your firewall and any Antivirus software, as well as any other programs that may be running by autostart or whatever. If you now install SH3 alone this should work without problem, and you can install the 1.4 patch right after it. Now you should run the game (DVD in tray) once - you will be asked to enter the code, and the sim will start. Play a single mission or start a campaign to test if all works, SH3 will now install some further directories after the initial start. If all works there is no problem with the vanilla install of SH3, and you can be sure of that. Leave the game. If all works, make a copy of the SH3 directory (spares another install if anything goes wrong now). Install GWX the way you posted above, and just to make sure restart the Computer. Sorry if you did exactly that, i have no other idea then. Good luck, keep us informed, and greetings, Catfish Last edited by Catfish; 04-21-08 at 02:14 AM. |
