Too bad there's no way to trigger the option based on enemy presence... much the same way time compression is restricted when the enemy is within a certain range. That way you could have your eye candy and eat it too.

One of these days, when I finally have my fill of the visuals, I too will turn it off. I try to avoid using it as a cheat though, and only look after firing the fish. I just love to see how accurate my manual targeting solution was. I gotta say though, sometimes I just sit back on the bridge and take the breathtaking views in. It's even better if you have surround sound set up, hearing the wind whistling up front and the sound of those diesels in the rear. Of course I don't really need the external to enjoy that though do I ? I do agree there is much satisfaction in the suspense of not knowing. I remember the thrill I got the first time I had to target by sonar alone due to extremely bad weather. Man..what a blast that was.
