Was hoping for a more convinced party to state something of the sort. I was wondering about the length beyond the conning tower anyway. Seemed a little long.

Thats what i was thinking. Its a bit too wide to be an IXB. Something about the main deck grating puts me off a bit too. I think its an early photo of U-181 if that is a spade on the tower. Just FYI, not all boats had the latest design in conning towers. If you dig around enough, you'll find a picture of a uboat in penang harbor with a turm 1 tower.
