Side issue: On the history channel this evening in the US (Xmas Eve) was documentary re WW1, which outlined the British/German fornt line escapades on the night before Xmas and Xmads day....playing soccer (football) in no mans land, the exchange of gifts etc.
Commentary by the narrtor as I walked in (and sadly couldn't watch it) "The British never considered the Germans their enemy...but their opponent."
