How so? Do you know where she stands on any issue where she hasn't turned the other direction when convenient?

The only turns I'm aware of are her stance on Iraq and a softening of her immigration platform. One has to be naive to think the ideas and commitments of ANY politician are carved in stone. Everything on Capital Hill is negotiable. Look how Republicans has separated themselves from President Bush and his low approval ratings. I think you'll find that the only ones that haven’t are the ones whose seats are safe in the next election. One should expect a candidate to be flexible in light of new data. To not be can get our country caught in an inextricable quagmire. Wait, I misspelled quagmire… I-R-A-Q. There… that’s better.

It is one thing to stand by your principles. It is another to not see different viewpoints on extremely complicated issues like Iraq and immigration.

Well, there is her stance on abortion, specifically parental notifications that she flipped on. She has gone back and forth on NAFTA, and was less than definitive when dealing with the issue of information extraction techniques used on terrorist prisoners. In addition she has changed her mind when the heat was on regarding Guantanamo Bay itself. These are just a few of the other ones I remember in addition to the Iraq war vote, and her immigration flops. But it's not just the flip-flopping. What about all the rotten fundraisers that she has accrued? Many Chinese? Many suspicious Chinese? You know, Chinese dishwashers donating hundreds of thousands of dollars? Does that not cause you any concern whatsoever?

I know Bill pushed NAFTA as did his predecessor, and Hillary has come out saying it should be reviewed. I don’t know that she ever had a pro-NAFTA stance other than supporting her husband. I think NAFTA does need our attention.
As for abortion, I’ve never known her stance to be other than pro-choice. On torture she advocates following the Geneva Convention but does not condemn questionable techniques like waterboarding. Is that a surprise? From what I’ve seen John McCain is the only candidate to outright denounce torture. The debated technique is waterboarding. I’m sure if you spelled out all of the things one could or could not use for interrogation you would get a more definitive response. Ask a vague question, get a vague answer.
On Guantanamo, I’m not aware of any stance change. Perhaps you could be more specific.
On campaign fundraising, I view it as the same mudslinging the GOP did during the last Clinton campaign. The fact is, accusations flew but nothing could be substantiated. It would greatly disturb me if Hillary was selling out to the Chinese and as so would not receive my vote. But, aside from right-wing accusations there has been no evidence. Another fact that you are missing is special interest groups are going to find a way to contribute to any horse they think might win the race. The Chinese were suspected of doing the same thing on the other side of the table. http://hsgac.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressReleases.Detail&Affiliat ion=C&PressRelease_id=318&Month=4&Year=2003
But no action because of no real evidence. So who is to say what is real and what is rhetoric? I’d like to thing our overwhelmingly right-wing justice system would happily snap the cuffs on Hillary is she were really doing anything illegal.
By the way, the delay in your response tells me you actually research and give thought to your argument. That is more than a lot of people do and I appreciate it!

I unfortunately will have to yield at this time. This is just stuff I remember. And I didn't actually link to anything, so I can't really specify. I guess, I'll just have to agree to disagree on this with you. You think she would do fine as President. I think she would not be a good choice for the country. I'll just have to let that stand.

All I have to say is: Doctor's Convention!

-S

A Japanese doctor says, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in six weeks."

A German doctor says, "That is nothing. We can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in four weeks."

A British doctor says, "In my country medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have both of them out looking for work in two weeks."

The American doctor, not to be outdone, interjected, "You guys are way behind. We are about to take a woman with no brains, send her to Washington where she will become President, and then half the country will be out looking for work."

And in the blue corner Margret Thatcher and in the red corner Hillary Clinton, ding ding round one.
