Uhh I turn my stuff off for two reasons.

1.) To save money.

2.) Thunderstorms.

3.) protect from hardware failure. Every component that has moving parts (HDDs, coolers (on the CPU, GPU, power supply)) has a number of working hours after which they tend to fail. Shutting down the PC when it doesn't do anything useful makes it last more years (in useful time).

I have an UPS, with a 4 hour battery supply.

It's not that I don't care about global warming. I'm convinced there is nothing I can do about it. I unplug my appliences, ok, but are the big industrial companys that are proboly responsible for 90% of the worlds ozone problem going to do a damn thing about it?

Answer is no, not until our goverments make them.

And we all know how soon that is going to happen...

They are killing us with holding tech back because they want to make more profit's. If all the new stuff that has been created was allowed to come into play instead of being held back for fear of global economy breakdown we would have a better environment already.

But true it is good to shut down every thing not being used both for longevity reasons and over all power usage and most power concerters drain energy even if nothing is being changed and used.

I set up home office so I can shut everything off with a flik of a button even the chargers for phone's.

Ya know, try to remember to not leave the water running when brushing...
Try to turn things off when not being used...

I got 3 kids and a wife; I'm basically runnin around shuttin things off just so a breaker doesn't throw when the wifey starts runnin that 3rd hair dryer.
