Default Famous Last words?

Heh share your storys of overconfidense or mistakes in this thread.

I was in the Med (GWX 1.3) yeah Suicide I know but I love a challenge.

100% Realism I got a bunch of Random warship contacts on sonar not far away (no task force report) The whether was extremely poor and I surfaced to get some air before I checked out the contacts.

well I came into range and Could tell in the fog that it was a Nelson Class BB with only 2 DD escorts.

"Theirs no way he can see me from here in all this fog"

Then I saw Cannon Discharges from it.

WOOOSSHHHH!!! Game over lol.

Heh! Getting your boat blown up by a Battleship, that's damn difficult, what with escorts getting there first

well done

mine:

Attacking the lone armed trawler outside Casablanca with my deckgun, from 2000 meters in the dark and not turning my boat directly towards it AND only going 6 knots with an untrained crew.

First hit blew my rudder off, my gun wasn't even loaded yet. second hit blew up the Zentrale, and all the officers there. third hit sunk my boat and killed me to add insult to injury, this was june 1940, France still hostile and my type IX boat is parked in 12 meters of water for easy recovery by the Allies to salvage enigma machine and other goodies

and all because I didn't want to waste an eel on it

Pretty new to SH3 I entered a harbor in the med with 100% in 1940.
It must be not to difficult this early in the war, let's do it I said.
I was soon spotted and six DD's came at me!

Last words: "alhoewel..." ("on the other hand...")

Hit the bottom almost before finishing "Allaarm" :rotfl:

a la star wars empire strikes back:

Watch officer: "Sir, enemy ships entering our sector!"
Captain (me): "Good. Our first catch of the day!"

Followed by the DD destroyer equivalent of the ion cannon barrage, saw me safely reduced to a pile of rapidly sinking junk inside of about 5 minutes.

my famous last word
"schei...." i was gonna say "scheisse"
and now the story behind the famous last word:rotfl:
i was sailing a VIIC/41 (Uflak) out of bergen in 1945 when i suddently got 6 radar contacts i then waited for the contacts to get close and bam there was 4 rocket equipped fighters and 2 big bombers
they arrived at my boat the same time
got hit directly with all of the bombs from the first bomber and almost all of the rockets with the fighters *DEAD*
worst part is i was standing on the bridge and i saw them hit
3 of the rockets even hit where i was standing:rotfl:

(SH4)

New depth 165 meters.
...
...
...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

I had no idea an American submarine would be that fragile. 165 meters is nothing!

(SH3)
"I can't get mined here..."

I did not actually hit a mine. As it turns out, I hit an iceberg instead.

:rotflr rather

I've said that too often myself, worst incident was something like this

Hmmm, hmm hm hmm hm (Me humming along to a tune while patrolling for ships in AN86 IIRC)
.
.
BOOM!
.
.
Clonk! (hitting the bottom at 25 meters)
.
gurgle (90% of my remaining diesel flushing out into the north sea)
.
.
an hour of fixing the boat later.
"Bernard, get up here! you're the new periscope, uzo, observation periscope, radio antenna and anything else sticking up above the main hull! And you better hope you can spit far because we don't have any guns anymore either!"

I eventually got back to newly occupied Rotterdam without my conning tower, batteries and only a smidgen of diesel left.

Patrol lasted all of 4 days, no sinkings and the Uboat was a write-off in june 1940.....

August 1940. Medium Liner pops up on the hydro at 18kts. Just managed to spin around enough to get one off, which hit slightly aft of the engine room and slowed her down to 16kts. Ok - surface and put a few shells into her, no chance of keeping-up submerged. As the conning tower broached the surface it was all searchlights & shellfire! Fancy them having all those guns!!
