CaptainCox, I've noticed something quirky with this mod. While the medal icons and names are fine for the crew, I've noticed that the medals awarded to the player have a problem. In this case, I was awarded the Purple Heart (correct, since my boat took heavy damage), but the medal in the box and on the award screen shows the Distinguished Service Medal. I tried tweaking Medals.upc to fix this (since this is where the game calls the medal names from for the player), but it didn't work out right. Is there any way to fix this?

Ach, sehr gut.

I'm thinking a solution to the problem would be to re-order the appearance of the medals in the DDS files, but I don't know how this would affect their 3D appearance in the medal box. I'll just let you look at it.

Sorry slept in :p
May i just ask you, do you run the "Real Medals Mod" by Jimimadrid?
Cause that mod will sort of toss this up a bit.

When I did this mod I could not get the 3D data as i wanted it, so I used the "stock" order of the way you get the medals.

No, I just use your mod here.

The names and graphics are fine for the crewmembers, but the graphics are incorrect for medals received by the player (outside of the Silver Star, so far from what I have seen).

Ok, try this one (this is what I use myself) Could be that I did tweak that and forgot to upload it.
It includes your "LukeFF's" "Realistic Crew Ranks 1.3 (updated to 1.3a)"
and also the "The_Belgian's" "faces in CrewSystemsManagement"
Both are excellent mods and also because they use the textures need for this mod

I am also not 100% here if you need to be in base to make this run properly. I guess it is better, just to be on the safe side!

Hmm, I just tried this out and didn't notice any difference. All of the files that affect the player's medals look just like the old files. Are you sure you uploaded the correct files for this release?

Hm. I vaguely remember that I had something that you describe and fixed it, though I forgot to up it here. To tell you the truth 100% I am not sure :p

I will have to look in to it again when back from a trip (1 day trip to Munich today)

As it turned out the trip is postponed till the morn
Well this has the 3D models for the medals box in your office showing the correct stuff. Real Medals did only the graphic changes. But as i say in the 1st post this mod is not following the way medals are given as in Real Medals, its following the Stock game, as I could not get the texture to port properly due to TMAP probs using the Pack3D tool. This might change drastically when Skwasjer releases hes final build for S3D.

Will have a look at this now LukeFF

@LukeFF Had a check, running the latest version of All Medals 1.1

I have only been awarded 2 medals as of yet and I have this in the box and when I click them

Purple Heart

Navy Cross

You mean you have a different medal in the box compared to the graphics when you click them?

Or do you mean you have another problem?
Maybe I misunderstood you here

Yep, that's the problem. In my test run, I ram my boat up on the shore of Pearl Harbor, and of course that destroys the submarine. The following cut screen then shows the citation for receiving the Purple Heart, but the graphic is that of the NDSM. In my last campaign it was the same deal - returned to port, got the Purple Heart, but the medal in the box and the graphic in the award citation was the DSM.

What file(s) did you change for 1.1? All of the files for the player's medals in my zip file show June 2007.

Again not sure man! I just remember I had some strange going ons and fixed it
But ok...ramming the boat sounds like a good test bed for this...let me try this for a bit and see what i get.

I also know for sure that you should most likely be in harbour for this to work, activate the mod i mean. I even had some crashes when I did it due to this.

I will report back ASAP!

EDIT:
Ok so i started a new career and just went full force in to the pen (at Pearl!)
I get the same medal in the box as in the pic as in the screen that tells you what you got etc etc. But what is totally amazing in this case is that I got

Yes, i got the The Navy Distinguished Service Medal...FOR BANGING UP MY BOAT...BAAAAD!, now how is that possible. As you know I did not tweak the way you get the medals (will fix that as soon the new version of S3D is out)

But I do get what the game tells me that I should have.
As to what I changed i have to really dig here (comparing some files etc), as I said i totally forgot what it was.

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. To help you out, I use the following text in menu.txt for the medals:

Quote:
5151=Purple Heart
5152=Bronze Star Medal
5153=Silver Star
5154=Navy Distinguished Service Medal
5155=Navy Cross
5156=Medal of Honor
This gives the correct names to the corresponding graphics for medals awarded to the crew. However, it results in the problem you have encountered above - the text in the citation says I have been awarded the Purple Heart, but the graphics show the NDSM. So far as I have seen and tested, the game is mixing up the names and graphics with the above text lines as follows:

Purple Heart > NDSM
BSM > Unknown
Silver Star > Working Correctly, no changes needed
NDSM > Purple Heart(?)
Navy Cross > Unknown
MoH > Unknown

Here's to hoping you get to the bottom of this.
