I was screwing around one time during my carrer, trying to take artistic screenshots, such as the sub passing underneath a sinking destroyer and such. At one time I paused the game to catch a screenie of the DD just above my sub... to my surprise I was only a few meters from a mine It didn't blow up -- but I did as the DD was a bit faster to deploy DCs than I was to deploy my aft tubes.

That sub net screws me over every time I go into Manila harbor. My temporary workaround until I can fully plot its position is to just wait until nightfall, surface, and go right over it.

I seem to get photo recon missions with Manila as the objective all the time...the game must love me.

As this was a bug I reloaded a preivous saved game and tried again. If you go to the west side of the harbour (stick as close to the coast as you can) and then loop around to the target from the north you can avoid the nets and mines in Manilla. You may have to set your depth to a bit shallower than periscope depth to avoid running aground though. I did it at 48ft.
