If you want to add - the Soviets lost the battleship Marat to air attack (by famous Stuka ace Rudel, at that) on September 23, 1941 in the Gulf of Finalnd. It sunk in shallow water, and was raised in 1950 and used as a training vessel.

In 1944 their huge unifinished battleship Sovetskiy Soyuz (which was to displace over 60,000t), captured early in the war while still in construction, was broken up by the retreating Germans.

Otherwise the Soviet navy was by no means large in WWII. They had a rather impressive number of submarines, but not large surface ships.

Rudel, I got his Stuka scale model (WIP)

in the little paper that came with the Iron model of Rudel it said that his attack on the Marat was a perfectly placed 1000 Kg bomb on her Bow.

even stalin hated him so much that he placed a 100,000 Ruble reward on his head , I kinda like this guy

i have read his great autobiography prefaced by Pierre Closterman. Really a must read. (the title in french is "pilote de stuka", don't know the title in english)
