Sadly, we do have that element here....not in great numbers though. They soon get fed up with the lack of support they get here and they go elsewhere to find other petulent children.

Being critical of Ubisoft is understandable, but ranting, hysterical threads are not wanted here.

Hear, hear. The game has issues, that's obvious. But I've had great fun with it since day one. Patch 1.3 will hopefully make it even more enjoyable.

Now, if anyone should complain about bad performance, it's me since I am using a GeForce 5700LE (256 MB), but I can't complain.

I actually enjoy this Sim. Obviously, the frame rate is low but playable. I've only had an issue with the tail end sinking after the conning tower was damaged, so yes, there are minor problems out of the box.

I am still very glad bought this Sim.

I think the problem with CTD has more to do with System conflicts with the Sim then the Sim itself.

Post your Specs and see if anyone else has the same Specs. Those are the people that will let you know if the Sims worth getting or if something needs to be upgraded.

Works fine for me, okay graohics and all-round good gameplay.

Gameplay even got better after I started 100 pct realism....

But I'd like they fix the gameplay bugs, which in my opinion is the biggest killer, I don't mind if they don't fix the graphical ones.

And yes, I'm playing on a laptop with all effect at 100 pct and very high resolution. Granted, I just bought a brand new laptop with state of the art hardware to haul with me when visiting friends for LAN.

Post 1.2 this game is extemely stable and I play it on a laptop with no issues. I have had an occasional CTD but I blame that not on the game but the lack of cooling efficiency in my laptop and I know others have had similiar issues.

The only CTDs really around now are because this game is extemely GPU and CPU intensive so you computer might say it has had enough every so often.

SHIV runs a charm on my system.
Never CTD yet. I've experienced a few graphical stutters but I think that's because of the settings I use and the amount of information the system was tasked to process.

I run a SLI nVida 7600GS with 512megs each.

I've run the game on...

1. Lenovo T-60 laptop (Vista, Centrio Dual something, 1GB, ATI Mobility x1400 or something)
2. Dell Dimension 9200 or something (XP and Vista at different times, core duo 2.13/2GB/Nvidia 7900 or 8600)
3. homebuild (XP Core Duo 1.86, 1GB, ATI x1300)
4. another homebuild (P4 3GHz, 2GB, ATI x850)
5. Some other P4ish XP box my friend has

...and have had absolutely no problems with stock, 1.1 or 1.2 patches.

I run CoD2 completely maxed so don't believe SH4 will be a problem and in fact it is why I will not bother to upgrade as i don't see anything else that is power draining that I want to run.
By today's standards I have a mid level system at best
But, for sake of comparison:

AMD 64x2 4600 2.4GHZ
Asus A8N-SLI Mobo
2X 1GB PC3200-DDR400 RAM
SB2 Audigy 5X1
X850XT 256MB (VC is only thing OCed)

CPU never hits 50C and VC never 70C with SH3 GWX running at Max

I might drop my almost never used 3500 64 SC in my email PC and use the X850XT in that and up the VC in the 4600 rig but the longer I wait the cheaper DX9 VCs will be.

I am also waiting.

It scared me that the customers have to beg for a patch.
They have to sell a 100% game.

So i am still playing shIII + GWX.

This rapidly growing urban myth that Ubisoft made anyone beg for a patch is really starting to irk me.

If you read the various posts by UbiSoft community managers nowhere does it state that people had to beg for anything What it said was that the people who make the financial decisions had to be convinced that a 3rd patch was required.

Now how could this be? How could they not know?

Well, given the level of irresponsible, jeuvenile comments that flooded the UbiSoft site (and here) post 1.0 release it was almost impossible to sort out what was a real bug, what was someone expecting it to be the same as Sh3, what was someone whinning because they didn't get the feature they wanted and what was a minor issue that could easily be modded by the community. Several of us here at Subsim worked for days to sort out a real bug list for the developers for 1.2 and believe me, it wasn't easy sorting out the wheat from the chaff.

PLUS...

If you go to the bug list that was prepared from the posts by this community pre 1.2 you will find that almost all of the issues that were so vitally important back then were indeed addressed by 1.2

So given the above it is completely understanable that, if your responsibility is the bottom line, then you might truly wonder if 1.3 is really necessary. But instead of just saying "That's it... shut 'er down", Ubisoft comes back to the community with 2 requests...

1) Convince us that there are real problems that need to be fixed and...

2) Give us a list of the top 10 remaining issues.

But insead of embracing this as an opportunity to really fix this game once and for all, the "community" does exactly what it always does... it went APE***T.

Boycottts, threats of lawsuits, stupid immature polls, name calling... all of the foolishness that caused UbiSoft to question whether 1.3 was really needed in the first place.

If it wasn't for Neal's efforts here and a few people on the UbiSoft site, I doubt that we would have seen a 1.3

So let's can the "made us beg" nonsense, and recognize that UbiSoft did exactly what we all want them to do... interact with the community, listen to the community and respond to our requests.

Second that thought!

I just realized this my 883rd post.
DD883 was the USS Newman K Perry which my father served on post WWII.
While he served on many ships including an S-Boat prewar and was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941 (on the USS Sacramento) I have his Mediterranean cruiser book from the Perry and that is why I think of it as more "his" ship.
Also it is Memorial Day so the irrelevant to anyone else my 883 post on this day seems kinda special as well.
