If you are starting to use the Obs scope you have to be careful that you don't make a very serious mistake.

Lets assume, hypothetically, that you are looking though the Obs scope and you switch to the Attack scope.

Wanting to be stealthy you lower the attack scope and proceed to sneak up on the enemy convoy.....

WITH YOUR OBSERVATION SCOPE STICKING OUT ABOVE THE WATER!!!

Not so stealthy after all. I wonder how those escorts found me... uh I mean found the hypothetical captian in this example.

Of course no one here would ever forget to lower the observation scope... no.. that would be pretty dumb. Nope, can't see anyone here doing that.
