My favorite part is being depth charged with the external camera off. Talk about an edge of your seat thrill if you play DiD. Seriously!

I'm with you Penelope, there's nothing more intense than listening to the pings. Then hearing depth charges in the water, Sir. And waiting to find out how close they really are.............

Love the damage control and coming out alive. About 10% of the time

totally agree on the damage control - its like a game within the game. Such a totally different and nail byting aspect.

I hate unctrolled sinking and trying to stop flooding.
That said, thats the time I most forget i'm sitting in a seat infront of a computer - i'm totally immersed at that stage, doing everything I can to try and save the ship.

Can you imagine what it would have been like to be in a real U boat in WW2 and have DC damage and uncontrollable sinking? I have no doubt it would be up there as one of THE definitions of terror

i love the asdic

it freaks me out when i hear it
becouse THEN i am already worryed if i would make it or not.

most of the time i get havy damage and sink.
other times i can escape to 200m and head north (standard escape route for me becouse the destroyers come from the east south and west at you).

i am lucky when there is no bernard in my sub.
realy i always have sucsessful misions.

i once got a bernard engineer and i always died

Mine too. As well as backing my uboat into the pens after a patrol.

I really like counting the seconds while I wait for my torpedoes to reach their targets. Being depth charged is also exciting.

Always head north? I will certainly have to try that!

I had a bernard for Navigation and actually beached myself heading out from Lorient!

Nail-biting.
Try Drifter's Longer Repair times mod if yer serious about more realistic repair times, that IRL could sometimes take days.

From what I understand GWX has altered repair times, though I haven't noticed much difference from the stock version.

Speaking about things some like and some don't, I must say I really like the much-woed standard damage model. It has an RPG feeling, to start with green crew, struggle to keep the boat working when half of the crew cannot be used, and then develop each of them so that, after some 5-6 patrols they work OK under pressure. It gives a strategic dimension to the crew micromanagement and when I give them medals and promotions I feel this is really of good use.
