Uhm, why not use JSGME? Install/deinstall mods with a simple mouseclick.

A brilliant piece of software.

True, but not all mods can be installed with JSGME, some do need you to backup original files and mess with the configs. I mostly avoid those for obvious reasons. However, I still believe that when the patch comes out it will be best to do a clean install and then apply the patch, so it won't matter if you have messed with configs anyway.

Just be sure to save your music and radio files outside the directory if you've played with them at all.

ALL mods can be managed with JSGME. If a Mod I want to use is not JSGME ready, I repackage it so it is.

The only issue is when one MOD tinkers with the same file(s) that another MOD has already tinkered with. Menu_1024_768.ini is famous for this.

The only solution in those instances is to either figure out which tweak you
want, or merge the changes into one single file in a seperate MOD.

I backed up my SH4 1.1 directory to DVD (without the Movie files), so I can always easily get back to stock if something gets mucked up.

I was running about 8 different mods but Berry is on the same wavelength as I am and his real boat 1.10 has the ones I want. I LIKE the clicking periscope sound and Berry has left that in. I also think the planes are good enough without a real plane mode and I DONT think Berry included that. Also, the destroyers from the Islands were bad up till 1943 I think so I dont need Destroyers seeing me silent and deep at 300ft and putting depth charges directly on my head all the time.

So the fixes and mods Berry included are the right fit for my style of play.

"Clicking periscope" ?? Does that refer to the scope movements? Or the TDC dials? I LOVE the clicking sound that comes with fiddling with the TDC dials.

So far, jimi's HUD Green Lamp mod and his Brass Gauges mod are the only ones that I found as a "must haves". It really adds functionality to the toolbar.

Once the 1.2 patch comes out (and my review is done), I will take a look at the real medals mod, map tools, Capt. Midnight and a few others.

Scope movments. Say if your moving it from side to side, changing the bearing at which your looking. I disabled them in my mod, annoyed me to no end. The TDC dials clicking i left alone of course.
