Beautiful graphics; new theater; new mission types; greatly improved game mechanics (e.g. no more having to babysit crew or be forced into 256x max TC to have air cover working properly); great manual TDC and a really awesome (once filled up by the modders) radio feature.

I'd agree with most of the above. SH4 has alot going for it but the issues, aieee! At this point I bounce back and forth between SH4 and SH3. I want to play SH4 but problems with audio (probably not SH4's fault - I'm a Vista using idiot with a creative sound card), graphic stutters and tearing and the CTDs send me back to SH3. But I always end up coming back. Can't stay away for many of the reasons others have already noted.

I'll add one more to the list, SH4 got me back into subsimming after a long time away and also inspired me to pick up SH3 (along with GWX and SHCommander). For that alone it's worth the price of entrance and hopefully my issues with it will be sorted out eventually.
