I think it'd be handy to have a Dev here, keeping us updated on what they're doing

One of the Devs is an active member of this Forum and frequently contributes here. He's a little busy right now though.

never happens because that'll tie them to false promises and timelines and angers the community even more

although slightly annoyed about the bugs that a beta test would have resolved (which is why most companies now offer beta testing to certain members of the public to avoid paying for more staff), I am still impressed that they got out the first patch so quickly, as it was out before the UK had it in stores.

I would like to see a comment from a dev tho, with some sort of eta, even if it was in April/May or quarter 4

would also be nice to see what they are going to concentrate on first. I would hope they fix the gameplay first and graphical errors before adjusting realism, if they cant do it all at once.

Wouldnt need everything fixed if its going to take too long. For example, the CTD errors could be fixed with one patch whilst other things in future ones.

They cant give you an ETA when they can't be sure themselves. When they finish the patch then they need to test it. And if there are any glitches with it then they have to go back and recode the patch...then retest it again.

You don't just throw a patch together and say "Here it is!"

I'd make two points. Firstly, the Beta testers of such games are frequently not testing the version of the game that goes gold, and they can only flag issues relative to the version of the game that they tested.

Secondly; even if the Beta testers flag an issue, that doesn't guarantee that the issue will be dealt with and resolved. Companies Like Ubisoft catorgorize bugs and will usually prioritize the bugs deemed to be important enough to impact sales.

The CTD issue regarding the 'A' key is easy to resolve and probably already has been. We'll all hear about exactly what's contained in patch 1.2 soon.

The message-log bug would fit under that "important enough to impact sales" category.

Patch 1.2 should be released as soon as possible to fix that one bug alone.

You speak of things that you know not, Young Jedi.

Any smart company has it's external Beta testers sign an N.D.A. Not to do so would be stupid.
