Default Amazon.com

@ Soviet_Warlord - Amazon.com doesn't ship software to Canada - are you talking about Amazon.ca?

I just picked up the game tonight and to my surprise when i opened it, no map. very sad, especially since i traded in 2 games to go towards sh4 and all i get is manual and disc. Paying that much to get kicked in the balls would be more satisfying.

Default Ubisoft and Bonus Materials

I encourage more Canadians here to not let this go - contact Ubisoft and try to get to the bottom of this. Be courteous, but make sure you get a real answer and not a bureaucratic excuse like "Yes, we did make, assemble, package and distribute the product but it is still the fault of the seller." They didn't include all the materials, which means they either screwed up badly and sold us a product with significantly less physical components which were explicitly said to be included and which we expected and paid for, or they lied and hoped we wouldn't question them. Either that or the limited time for the bonus materials was less than a day.

Same here chaps picked mine up at EB Games in Ottawa. Disk plus manual only the case it came in sure looked like it hold a map plus keyboard layout it was big enough. Disappointed.

Also further disappointed with the mission editor not impressed at all.

Default Bonus Materials

Well, the issue with the mission editor is one of opinion - the bonus materials though is another issue. Not that I'm saying you're wrong about the editor - I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know what it is like. Right now, I am most concerned about what happened to our promised materials though.

I was going to go out tonight and pick up a copy at the local BB or FS (Both right beside each other). Now I think I will wait a week or so and see how all of this confusion by UBI sorts itself out.

Oh well, back to the atlantic for now...

Default SHIV Materials

Most of these complaints seem to originate from copies bought at EB Games. Someone mentioned Futureshop as well. Does anyone have any info on any other retailer in Canada?

And does anyone know of any way I can take this damn game back after it's been opened? I thought I heard once that if one disagreed with the license terms, the retailer would have no choice but to refund - probably not true though. I doing first year law right now, but I don't not enough about contract law to know if this is a breach of contract, but I don't think it would be. I do feel cheated and want either the materials or a refund though - the more I think about it, the worse I feel.

Check out the fine print on the back at the bottom.

"Made in Canada/Fabrique aux Canada"

First time I've had a game made in Canada, we usually get the trusted American versions! It's just one thing after another with these idiots at UBI when it comes to SH4 it seems.

<-----Not a satisfied customer...

Are people on the west coast getting the half-Quebecois silliness too? Seriously, keep the watered down french crap in Quebec!

edit: oh yeah, the lack of AA DOES indeed suck, and the lack of crew interaction sucks even more...

I was gonna pick up my copy from the EB here in Ottawa tommorow, but I may reconsider now and try Best Buy instead... though I doubt it will make a difference, it seems like all the copies produced in Canada do not have the extra material...

j/k

I oughtta smack you! Oh wait. I'm a Canadian! We don't fight back! We're sissies!

Deadeye acquitted us quite well. Militarily Canada has been and still is quite remarkable given our small size. Bother the French and Brits tried to take Vimy Ridge (at the time the most heavily defended point on the Western fron) but only the Candadians could do it, the first time, AND with incredibly few losses by WW1 standards. WW2 we were all over that Navy business and we trained like 3/4 of the Allied air force (including tons of Americans). We had splendid land soldiers too. Much of Caen was bought with Canadian blood. I could go on and be verbose or just take a swipe at the US for not joining the war sooner (classic Canadian retort) but instead I'll just be proud of my nation and leave it at that.

I think that we in Canada repeatedly get the raw deal economically. Hell has anyone checked the exchange rate lately? The Canadian Dollar is worth around 85 cents American. So why is everything nearly twice as much as it is in the US? Free Trade is a joke. Its more like Free Trade for the US if they feel like it. Hell Mexico has a better NAFTA agreement than we do. Thank you very much Mr. Mulroney.

BAH! I guess I'll be buying this baby online probably.... eventually.:hmm:

EDIT. Oh yea and remember 1812? We so kicked America'a ass (technically the Brits did cause we were still a colony but still).

I too would like to voice my anger at this, as I was really looking forward to the bonus material. It was going to be the real highlight of the purchase for me, and I was looking forward to some good bathroom reading.

And what do we get? A really ****ty manual, that doesn't even tell you what the difference between submarines is. As someone who isn't particularly well versed in american submarine knowledge, I find it rediculous that I'm just picking a sub at random. To make things worse, the "Museum" aspect doesn't help fill that gap at all.

Truly very frustrating.

It's the dual language requirement.

I'm willing to bet the retailers and makers defense will be that Ottawa made them do it. The requirement for dual lauguage meant everything would have to be in both French & English, and it was not practical for the cost to create all the materials in both languages.
