If it were a $20 game then I'd buy it in its current form. However I'm not spending my scarce dollars on a game that isn't at the moment worth the price tag. Its not my job to ensure the future of the game by buying it before its up to snuff. Its Ubis job to make me want to buy it. If I have to live under a capitalist system then it better bloody work the way they say it does! |

The SH3 mod community's work if applied with the same vigor to SH4 will make this game one of the best sims ever.
After reading alot of the posts there is a definite pattern appearing. There are some bugs no doubt. Some so-called bugs are clearly hardware issues. Remember SH3? It's deja vu all over again IMO. There will be a patch soon, probably more than one eventually. The modders will start , they have already, tinkering. Soon the transformation will begin. Remember SH3? RuB? Grey Wolves? I am not in the least dismayed at all the doom and gloom being bandied about. I remember SH3. I have at my side the list of mods Sailor Steve used for his SH3, two freakin' pages! I used it as a guide for the mods I wanted for my SH3 install. The modders will be the salvation, if indeed SH4 needs salvation, of this sim. I prefer transformation or enhancement, call it what you will. It will only get better. |

UBootMan, hopefully you are correct in your assumptions about UBISoft's future support, and doubtless you are correct about this commuity's support for SHIV.
P_Funk is also correct in his post, and his post deals with the propriety of a business transaction. As P_Funk points out, buying a game is a business transaction. We may have high hopes for the future of a particular game but we should not be asked to pay now for a broken game sold with a promise to fix it later. P_Funk's right. You're (hopefully) right. I'm a heartbeat or two from cancelling my pre-order and waiting for patches and then trying to find SHIV in the $20 bin in a couple of months. In the end, I suspect that each of us will grab it the minute it shows up. Hope springs eternal. Fair winds and a following sea, Old Dog |
