You are correct LukeFF. The S-class boats were too small to have a TDC installed. One key sentence from the article says:

"The new TDC, which went into the fleet boats, where there was room to shoehorn it into the conning tower, was designed for use with the 21-inch Mark-14 torpedo."

Here is the link to FleetSubmarines website for the entire article... http://www.fleetsubmarine.com/torpedoes.html

So we can expect to do it the old fashioned way in the S-boat (using the Mark-10 torpedo that only had contact exploders) and to have the TDC (with the defective early torpedoes) in a Fleet boat.

Default The old fasioned way every time.

Kind of makes you want to take out someone a little more mature for your first date. At least you might score.

Someone whom speaks german should let these guys know that the Images of the Sargo and Balao Class boats are reversed (as evidenced by the names of the photos.)

Thanks for the info. It should be interesting carrying out torpedo attacks a la WWI style.

Well, for one, perhaps you should 1) post sensible (and decipherable) comments; 2) avoid derailing threads; 3) posting while intoxicated... NOT

All else would be fine, don't worry - I know you can post just fine, since I've seen you do that. But hey, it's a naval forum, keep the 'ship' in order will ya :p

Someone reported your post, he wrote: "Is this a Troll? Message seems only intended to provoke a hostile response." I saw it the same way. Or did you think that your remark would have somehow lead to a good discussion about the pros and cons of S-class boats?

By the way, from the forum rules:
"If a member wishes to challenge a Moderator action that involves the member, this challenge must be raised in private via PM or email, not in public."

Default S-42

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but it looks like we will be getting the S-42 variant as well in patch 1.1. Two S-Class variants (the two main ones) seems fine to me.
