It's sometimes easier to evade on surface than submerged in bad visibility conditions, as long as escorts don't have radars... If escorts are slow movers like Flowers, you can also outrun them at flank speed.

A good defense is a good offense.
If your approaching a convoy or spot a DD before they notice u, then i get into a good firing position, havingthem in my sights UZO. When they notice me, and they r close engough for a good shot, i crash dive and before i go down i fire off a fish, (when the DD is in a fast attack move and comming right at me).
I dive down to 40m and shut off the engines (not silent running) then once the engines are off i dive even more usually to 80-90 m. If i have decoys, then a deploy them once i shut my engines offs and i turn to port maybe 10-15 degrees for about 4 minutes then i even them out. thats if your in deep water. If your in Shallows, i usually say a hail mary and accept that im going to sink. If its late in the war and u r in deep water they will probably find u and sink you. Hope this stuff helps. This might work for u, i know it works for me.

I go by the Uboat Commanders Handbook, which lays it out step by step.

If I am on the surface for a nighttime surface attack, I immediately turn at high speed and set a course 75° of the convoys course, so I don't get seperated from the convoy more than I need to.

This of course depends on the postion of the escorts.

For a submerged attack, I stay at PD until I determine if the escorts have seen me or not.

If they haven't I try to slip away at Silent Running at PD, keeping a close eye on the escorts through the periscope.

If I see they have spotted my I immediately dive to 150 meters at Flank Speed.

I again try to stay 75° off the base convoy course, so I don't lose too much ground.

If the escorts are persistant I will go to 90°, and if they are really persistant go to 120° from the base course.

After losing the escorts, I move about 10k from the convoy, surface, and begin the overhaul maneuver again.

When Im at comp in den and shes at tv we are facing
each other my wife is totally supportive of my playing
because whenever she askes me to do something
I hit pause and willingly go and do it.
because of that approach she goes out
of her way now not to interrupt.
