The biggest Target im my career; dead stop in water after gettin' two Eels. And the Fangschuss (last Eel) turns out to be a dud.

Last night I caught a single large merchant and torpedoed her to the bottom. After watching her sink I realized I never got credit for the sinking. On top of that the phantom ship dropped a line to its mates because in came the DD and Hurricanes.
At least I got lucky and evaded the DD.

Ok, I'm on manual targeting and I've been closing on a C2 for about 15min real time before getting ahead of her without getting spotted (it's the middle of the night, heavy seas throwing me up and down)
Took me forever to get a decent speed reading (it actually clocked her at 23 a few times...come on) and range is give and take because the waterline keeps changing on me and the C2 is, of course, also bobbing up and down like a cork.
Finally get decent readings all around and a Gyro of 0 so I let go torp 1 and, seconds later, torp 2. First one hit the back of her without going off, second one missed completely...It actually took me 4 torps to finally get a hit...the fourth being the last one I had. Didn't sink her ....grrrrr...

The fact that you rammed the pier and killed your entire crew directly in front of a marching band and a throng of cheering girls only adds to the exquisite embarassment of the moment.

Honestly, I don't think anyone can top this. I've had some bad moments, some misses, even some collisions, but sir, you stand alone.

The good news is the story of your demise must still be the source of endless jokes down the pub. A guy trips over his shoelaces, stumbles headlong through a plate glass window, and then gets run over by a cab, and everyone laughs and says "Look! He pulled a Finback!"

Eagle Eye, you should have sank them anyways. They were probably defecting to the UK just like the Italian Navy did.

Actually--I was a bit reluctant to post that story. I was afraid that someone would say something--well--like you did . It was a horrible experience and sooo embarrassing it was better that I was killed outright.
