It´s a strange name because it´s one of those fashionable "double names". Actually not very common in those days, but in the 80s every would-be feminist that married insisted on keeping her name while taking her husbands one as wel.l, which led to really great creations like "Mrs Leutheuser-Schnarrenberger" (I´m not even sure I spelled it correctly...

)

In Poland double surnames are quite normal (I have such, for example), also among submarine folks, like famous Konstanty Matyjewicz-Maciejewicz that saved some of his crew after their boat sunk by firing them with the torpedo tubes outside.
