And those who know can't say.
Indeed.

I just don't understand what is taking so long. I'm programer myself. If I would need half a year or more to fix few minor glitches I'd be kicked out of the job in the moment. Fixes like this could be released in weeks, including beta-testing.
It is true that 1.03 brought brand new (and much better) sound propagation model, which was quite unexpected. So maybe we can expect something more than just fixes .. well hope never dies

Can someone please explain the purpose of the NDA in this instance? I thought the primary purpose of NDA's were to protect proprietary information relating to game development. We ALL know that 1.04 is out there being tested. How can it be a violation of the NDA to let the community know where we are in the process? COME ON SCS!!! HOW ABOUT A LITTLE STATUS REPORT, HUH?!

I'm sure it would take less time if people were allowed to work on it. The guys who write the code also work on other projects, which if I understand correctly Sonalysts consider to be a higher priority than fixing bugs in Dangerous Waters. Now you might ask why they don't do it in their spare time, well fair point but these people have lives outside of SCS.

If you guys want to be mad, you should direct your frustration at the BETA testers who are so proficient at finding these insidious bugs time and time again (i.e. I'm kidding, of course... just another way of saying that the BETA testers are VERY good! ). I think it's a testament to the complexity of the sim and the level of committment and skill level of the BETA testers.

I apologize that it has taken so long, and I really feel like it is "this close" to being done. The BETA testers have found one last anomoly with the buoyancy model (which is MUCH better than v1.03 we hope) and we would like to correct it.

Thanks again for your patience, we do appreciate it.

Its hardly good business practise for SCS to respond so slowly to legitimate issues raised by 'experienced' people. Firstly DW hardly exists in a watertight compartment insulated from military interest. To permit any possibility of the poisonous osmosis, over a long time, of criticism on 'basics' like depth control, could be very damaging to potential 'military applications.

Secondly, SCS has'nt got a captive audience - most gamers run a core of favoured games and if SCS come up with say a package of addon units then their sales success will largely depend on their track record.

You lost me at "osmosis"...

As was written in the DW Mod forum, there are many game/sim devs who primary line of business is the refinement of their commercial sims, whereas our gov't work is the primary focus at the moment. I apologize if you feel this was a disservice to your purchase of DW, but I argue that we continue to support DW and will do so for some time (perhaps not to the level of other developers like LP or BIA, but we do the very best that we can with the time we available to us).

Osmosis = diffusion of liquids through a semi-permeable membrane.

However thanks for the comforting words Jamie.

It's nothing against you Jamie .. nor even SCS. It's just clear that we can't expect much from DW with such approach from SCS. You see people talking about big modifications, new platforms and so on .. I think that is not going to happen.

Sorry for my over-sarcastic talks .. but it worked as making you give some more info

Good to hear (Since i was convinced it was dead)! As this is probably the last patch (I assume), take your time and get it right!

Hah! One of the few definitions I still remember from middle school(several decades ago, no less). And word for word too......:rotfl:

Oh! uh...so this post is on topic, I would, uh, like to reiterate what that other person posted about the, uh, subject regarding the 1.04 patch.
