![]() If Microsoft Flight Sim can run on two (or more) monitors why not SH? Sub Command is supposed to run on two but I haven't tried it yet. Sinking Fast |

But there's something about it that just looks and feels so much better. Look at my sig, with it's rectangular shape. Now try to picture it with the sides squished into a square. it just wouldn't be as nice.

Looking for a new monitor here as well and plan on puchasing one in February. In doing some research on this am finding that the older style CRT's are still better for the average gamer than the LCD's but of course the big PRO for an LCD is its lack of desk space, lack of power req. and apparently they only give off like 10% of the heat a CRT does. I like to run things in HIGH resoloution and am finding that an LCD that suits my tastes there is VERY expensive as opposed to a CRT which hits those rates with ease for less than half of the cost.
But the CRT is huge, one I'm looking at weighs 47 lbs!! but can run like 2100x1400 whereas a comparably priced LCD can only run 1280x1024 and its recommended to run it lower than that. Just my 2 cents, of course the wife is screaming for me to get an LCD! Chuck |

Samsung 19inch widescreen here.
First time I saw the stretched images, I was so mad. I disparately sought fix but "digital flat panel setting" in recent nForce driver with 6800GT doesn't work. I so hated the oval periscope so I almost gave up. But after making the game in high-res mode (what an enormous difference from 1024!) and looking at a few times clamed my allegy on it and now it seems I'm adapted... (still, I couldn't accept 3 oval main interface dials so vanished them by incorporating sim-feeling mod) Aside from that needless to say it is good for movies and new game titles including SH4 will support widescreen so generally, it's a way to go. But more real estate does meen more graphic power demand ![]() This monitor was about $220 so it's a budget monitor (SyncMaster 941bw). If someone's thinking about this monitor, I think the monitor is too bright (it's like over exposed) and I tried to fix this by tweaking various hardware controls & software (gf cards,' Windows') but it's not satisfactory. The back-light is very strong so "black" is NOT black (especially if you compare to a CRT monitor, all LCD's black is not dark but this monitor's black is really "bright" black) Howerver, I can't complain for the price - it's amazing we can get such a great (well, have issues tho) monitor for near $200. P.S. Inside of sub becomes more spacious as well and so it doesn't smell too sweaty :rotfl: |

I hope I haven't come too late in this discussion...DON'T BUY THAT MONITOR! First of all, I don't know the name and second of all the price is suspicious. When your in a flee market and/or some place in Asia and you happen to find some nice rip-off clothes(and they can be of very good quality if you look hard enough and have experience) go ahead and buy 'em but don't chintz on electronics. 200 bucks for a 19 inch widescreen monitor is great and it will look great for the first six months but after that, if the picture doesn't start degrading I'll be surprised. When it comes to electronics, you really do get what you pay for. I'd suggest hopping on over to Ebay and finding a good brand name(NEC, Dell, Apple) and buying from a Power Seller.
