Same message here...but I don't really want to use the Integrated Orders anyway. Might I suggest you enable it and if it gives you a prob (which it shouldn't) and your using JSGME...then just disable it again.

I've got a problem like the first post in this thread, uninstalled game, got rid of all old game folders, reinstalled game, tried to apply patch (yes, it's the right one) and got this message...cannot create the following file: C:\program files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter lll\anim.$$a. What is this all about? I have had this game with this patch installed on my rig several times in the last year or so,and never had a problem with installation, all the sudden it wants to give me trouble. Can anybody help, please?

do a search on your whole computer after you've uninstalled and deleted to make sure all SH3* files/folders are gone. Run a registry cleaner on computer (CCleaner is free and safe, but update to new version once installed) and defrag.

Reinstall again. You may want to download another copy of the patch, just incase the old one has gone bad, if that's possible and see what happens.

I had a similar problem.
I had installed sh3 commander - and run it just to oversee the new version.
I think this changed some sh3 cfg files and would not let me install the patch.
I rolled back sh3 commander and it allowed the patch install.

Did everything fredbass suggested,no dice, still get the same error message when tring to install patch.(cannot create anim.$$a) Not to mention, I canned a career that I had been playing for months in order to do this. Right now several words come to mind, lets just say, "UPSET" doesn't begin to cover it. If anyone can figgure out a fix for this problem,I would appreciate it very much .

if you have to reinstall and have no other SHIII do as the guys have said. above.

Some help for 2nd install:
If you install a 2nd copy of SHIII make sure you have renamed your 1st install beore attempting to do the 2nd. SHIII-Vanilla or something like that to make it different from original name in Ubisoft folder. Now use the dvd and click Install then Repair and run. Once installed, patch to 1.4b and do not make any other changes or run SHIII(take the dvd out of the drive tray is wise). Then, and only then, you can install GWX. If that fails, reread the GWX manual. if it works ok then make your changes in name.. ect... ect... I had problems because I didn't realise Repair let you do the 2nd install.

It's also wise to backup your original career if you still want to save that, My Documents SHIII is the one.

Hope this helps a bit more for those attempting their 2nd install for the first time.

WG, make sure SHIII Folder is out your My Documents folder. Save it any place you want but there. That might do it for you.

Default SH3Gen and SH3Weather?

:hmm: Have the two great utilities SH3Gen and SH3Weather been tested with GWX? Can they be installed and used with GWX as before with GW1.1a? Thanks!

SH3Gen is fine. I'd try the game without SH3Weather for a while and see what you think since the weather has been modified in GWX.

What resolution does GWX support ? Stock game is 600*800 but there used to be a fix to enable 1024*768...will this still work with GWX ? If so, anyone have the link to the fix ?

Cheers, Hans.

I am playing GWX at 1600 x 1200.
I think the details are available in the SH3 Community Manual.

I'm pretty sure the game is automaticallyl played at 1024x768, not 800x600.

I haven't tried it , but their are instructions on modifying the game to play at higher resolutions, but I'm pretty sure you lose some gaming functions in the process.

And since it still looks great to me, I'm very comfortable leaving it as is.

My GWX works fine at 1024x768.

** Just using my own graphics settings, not any in-game tools.

I personally wouldn't recommend doing that though because of the side effects and you need frame rates in port, but to each his own.
