And finally this evening, for Onkel Neal:
That concludes the WW2 pictures - next up will be the Cold War.

Quite an extensive collection of very nice machines of war. Very cool. Thanks for posting.

Very impressive collection indeed, including a Sturmtiger, didn't think any of those still existed, and the self-propelled Pak-40 I'd never even heard of before! Interesting looking machine, I imagine married together out of necessity to have a mobile AT against the Soviet forces that wasn't as expensive to produce as the StuG or more standard assault vehicles.
And of course...PANTHER! The Ausf. A, not my favourite version but still probably my favourite German tank. |

Very impressive pictures, thanks for sharing. A lot has been done since I was there in the early '90s. If I am correct, the T34 had a nice hole in the turm... Oh, and I saw the working ones running at an open air event then...

It was interesting to see that some of the vehicles had been gifted back to Germany in the 1950s. It seems that Germany as a nation was forgiven by the 50s and that other nations were interested in maintaining some of the military cultural heritage - the U995 was also given back in the same time period. Maybe it's a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. First the Western tanks:

And the Russian APCs:
It's pretty awesome to be able to visit a single museum and see all but the most modern Soviet tanks and APCs in one place.

I've done my service in the army on a Leopard for a couple of years. We would have feared the T 72 the most. I guess they removed the reactive armour for security reasons (explosive components)...

Kontakt-5, the nasty surprise for NATO tankers. On the trusty old T-72 it would have made it quite potent, along with the sheer numbers of the things coming at you.
