Dislike anything with modern subs.
Sailor Steve, I like your selection of movies, but doesn't your last statement rule out Ice Station Zebra which is in your list? I know in reality that the sub used in the film was an old diesel electric (USS Ronquil) and not a nuclear boat, but the film portrays it as a modern (1960s) sub.

My selection would include yours plus:
Hunt for Red October
Crimson Tide
K19 The Widowmaker
Hostle Waters

Basically the modern sub films you dislike.

Is there anyone even out there who has seen Das Boot that didn't utterly enjoy it?

No mention for K19 the Widow maker.Worst ever submarine film is U-571.I wish I had never bought it!
Close Quarters was made in 1943 and featured real submarine crews and not actors-it will always be my all time favourite.

:hmm: I thought Crimson Tide was a pretty good 'present day' effort
