To my experience, Ship ID will only work if you are - or if you switch - to Manual TDC. If you are in Auto-TDC (like me) you must click the officer and enable Manual TDC first.

In order to be able to switch auto/manual, you must set it in the OFEV, in the XO TDC tab: switch Manual TDC (last entry) to False.

So, in my game with Auto-TDC, it works like this:

- Ship ID mod enabled in JSGME and changes done as above, also Manual TDC switched off in the game options;
- Lock target
- click officer, switch to Manual TDC; the displayed solution data changes, but no ship name yet;
- select 3rd officer from the left (Weapon Officer) in the crew icons;
- select 1st icon on the left;
- select 1st icon on the left.

That's it. The ship name will appear. But you STILL have to consult the ID Book to know about the ship's Depth Under Keel. All this is really complicated and un-intuitive, I whish I was in AOD...but if it was simpler, then the mod would be made so
Then: What the heck will abilitate the weapon guy to identify a ship? He is not on the bridge, but inside the sub and setting up the weapons for an attack, or no?

- After this: switch back to Auto-TDC with the officer.

I would suggest to add documentation to the mod, a mod without a readme is not a good mod IMO, it's just half the work done.
