Hmm..my mod order must be wrong or something as i tried playing a single mission today and everything works fine until i encounter some action (lots of battleships vs enemy ships) explosions and gunfire and i keep getting CTD!

I'll try uninstalling all my mods and re-install them according to stoianm's mod order in your recent post. By the way stoianm i have watched your tutorial on installing magnum opus mod and have got it exactly done the same as described in your tutorial. So not sure whats causing these CTD's but its making it impossible gameplay..

Some of the mods that i am using i changed... ctds can be from manny sources... seems your computer can not take to manny effects, big sounds, high shadows... etc... post you mod soup here and your computer spec also pls

Please take note about these factors each time when i am posting my mod soup:

1) My computer spec:

Win 7 64 bits (without SP1)
4 gb Ram
vga Nvidia gtx 465 - driver 8.17.12.67.24
monitor resolution 1920x1080 (60 Hz)
Onboard sound
Cpu dual core E5500 2.8 GHz

2) Some of the mods that i am using i changed before i installed
3) I use msi afterburner to control my vga temperature
4) Sound in game settings:




5) Video in game settings:



6) i do not like to play at HIGH Time Compresion... the max time compresion that i am using when i play is TC32

I play the game sometime days in row without quiting the game... I let the game playing when i sleep or when i am not home... i never had CTDs... and because of the max TC32 i am still in Total Germany campaign... but my game is very stable and i enjoy playing like this

So if you want to build your MOD SOUP considering my SOUP MOD you must to think at all this factors... Each computer is diferent and because of this if you use the same mods like me in the same order not means necesary that you will not have problems

EDIT: When is to much trafic, to manny animations or to manny high effects i have lags time to time

the most lag i had came from TDW`s red distress flares (part of MO or FX update mod)

...my system couldnt take it i think,

so if you think you have the most lag or performance problems while a ship blows up, try to disable this red distress flares:

edit X:\SH5\Data\Zones.cfg using notepad (make a backup and move the copy somwhere save)


search for sections,

[DistressFlareWarship]

[DistressFlareMerchant]


i changed them by removing the Effect2 line of both sections, they look like this now:

...result is a much more stable game and lag free explosions for me.

...by the way, i see you use the sound collection i putted together. This sound collection is eating much memory but is tested to be stable if using it without other sound mods. That can also be a reason for a CTD for some systems

Hi again and thanks for the reply, I'll post up my mod soup and PC specs tommorow, but since posting about the CTD in this thread I have re-installed mods according to the order you have them in, and I watched your VGA tutorial video and installed and setup MSI afterburner program and did a test on my video card. Btw it's only a nvidia geforce 9600gt..probably why it's overheating and can't take much, will be getting this new PC soon built specifically to run sh5 at it's highest settings possible, so just trying to make do with the PC I have now

will be adding Open Horizons, IRAI (removing Damage Assessment), AirTorpedos, Real Nav, and the like

- SH5.exe edited so the hydrophone works ==> used “TheDarkWraith SH5 Patcher” for this.
