It feels very much like SE1, not much has changed. You have a cover system
now (same as in other games that have it), which is useful at times but at the
same time kinda useless overall, I find it easier to not use it.

On my 3rd mission atm and so far 2 of them has involved somewhat tight in-door
areas you have to fight/sneak through. That, of course sucks as the rifle becomes
quite useless in those situations.

Nice thing they added is a small indicator that pops up when there is enough
noise to conceal your shot, not so nice thing is that I've only seen it on mission 2.
I hope they use sound concealement more later.

As far as I can tell, only bullet drop is modeled, no wind. You can hold your
breath, or if you're calm enough, you can go into a bullet time mode for a short
time which slows the game down significantly.

All in all, it's very much like SE1.

That's good enough for me might look into it when if it comes on sale this summer....and I've noticed there's a Coop mode included?

If you can get past the stupid story (1 man army) it's pretty nice. I just
hope there's missions that involve more sniping later on.

Yeah, there's a Co-op mode, from what I can tell it's the whole campaign that you
can play with a mate.

The Story is 1 time playthrough...its that online part where a round can last 15 - 20 minutes without a shot fired if you can recall our games in SE1

but coop sounds nice too.

More sound masking comes up later on in the campaign, there is more sniping, and, as far as I'm aware, wind is indeed modeled on the highest difficulty!

Yet to play Co-Op yet, haven't had the time tbh...

Hmm.. I'm playing it on hardest, but haven't seen any indication of there being
wind.

Well Wikipedia claims:

Quote:
One of the main features of the title is the realistic ballistics, involving factors such as bullet drop, wind strength, and the effect of holding one's breath when attempting a shot.
But again, that's Wikipedia...gonna look into this for you!

[edit] My avatar! What happened?! D:

From the game, when you choose difficulty, one can take the "custom" difficulty level. Ballistic Realism, under "Realistic" it says:

"Gravity and WIND will affect your bullets."

It seems to be there somewhere, the game claims so at least...

Sniper Elite 2 is a lot of fun, though i find my level of concentration is so high, that can only play so long before i have to take a break.

Yeah, it's ok. The only thing that bugs me big time is the enemy spawning.
Like in the end of the 3rd mission, you blow up the bridge, kill the russians and
then germans spawn to the area you need to exfil via, you kill them move forward
20 meters or so and another batch of them spawn.

Why not just have a static number of enemies and an alarm mode ala Metal Gear Solid?
That worked fine.

Another thing I dislike is the way enemies react to you. It seems like you can shoot once
without them seeing you. This all good, but there's a lot of areas where you simply can't
relocate thus forcing you to fight your way through.

EDIT: Or in other words, the 3 first missions don't really reward you for acting like
a real sniper would. That's what I hate, especially if the game is called "Sniper Elite v2".

But I do like the killcams, nothing like good video game gore and it's surprising how much
work the put to it. It's not just headshots, you also see lungs, heart and other stuff being hit.
Hell, even saw an eyeball pop out earlier today! Amazing!

Wish I would've screenshot'd that, it looked hilarious. X-ray vision like in the shots above, but
with eyeballs. Hit the guy to the left temple and from there the bullet continued behind his left eye
which just popped off.
