Looks good - but I could still do with a better deck texture. It just seems real dull - just adding some black lines to indicate planks would spice it up a lot.

I've always wanted some of these super-surface subs...finally some serious deck gun firepower

Just got your PM keltos, I am going to extract the hull and import it into my both guns working narwhal

looking purely awesome!

the deck is a separate 3d model from the hull
, it sits in the last node called details.

as for the hull I still have to make those 2 fore torpedo tubes.

the rear facing ones are easy : just a door to be added under the guns platform.

also : the deck has a new texture and O01 files.

Heres the coords I have for tubes 5 and 6.
Put them in and tell me waht you think

Tube 5
X:.241 Y:.3 Z:2.1
tube 6 is the same, but make the X value negative.

I'll do it. but for those I still need to make a dent in the hull for each tube see RL picture in post #231

rear tubes doors visible in picture in post #227 and post #231

I have to check one of the pictures I posted earlier of the Nautilus I think, where the bow and both tubes are visible to see where they go.

I like my 3d model a lot so far (see latest pictures in post 255).



still have to add those two platforms sticking out of the tower on either side, I wonder what they were for ?


also I just noticed that the guns deck railing isn't cables and posts but iron tubing all the way (see rl pictures in post 231..)

hmmmm, the platform we have is just a little too small compared to that picture, methinks. Every time I load it up into SH$ I get to that deck platform and try to imagine Marines doing pushups enroute to the Makin raid.

Also, I have a 6 inch gun kinda ready, its loaded into its own .dat, just needs to be looked at and readified

We will also have to extend the bottom of the conning tower into the hull, because the tower IS basically just sitting atop the deck, with no structural connection to the hull

there are NO cables on that submarine ! two very thin lines visible : thin radio wire ?

Me not It was sized according to the blueprint, and the sub is to scale in 3ds, maybe they were short n skinny marines ?

maybe move the tower aft a bit ?

Narwhal damage model :

added a sphere to the zon file and modified the boxes

- Antennas and cables have been updated with own texture and AO map

- new tower AO map (might've to be redone sometimes in the future)

- tower base is lengthened and fits in the hull

- various details deleted

- reversed AA guns

[edit] fixed the AO map for the fore starboard plane

known issues : still only one DG...

I consider this version the near final one, unless some item comes up
