Be aware, my private server has started to become more laggy (jumping framerates, rough camera movement) since 1.6.2. And I've seen the same reports on the Minecraft Forum.

Understandably there's more stress to the server now that 2 worlds are being saved.

Found a handy bug, it seems that going through the nether portal replenishes your health.

EDIT: Reading the forums, there seems to be an bug that might make your tool break after 1 use, so I'd advice to use stone/iron ones until there's an
official word that it has been fixed.

EDIT2: Here's what seems to cause the 1 use break bug:

1 Drop tool
2 Pick it up
3 Use it once / right click on a block with it
4 Tool breaks

So...who had the same idea as me then? Who else built an SGC? Because the SGC I came out of the wormhole into was not the same SGC as I left...and yes I did check the date and it wasn't 1969...

Think Arclight built something like that, not sure.

As for Nether, it is straining the server quite a bit, even when only one player is in there. So, we have to think something to resolve that. Everyone going in and starting to build their mainbases there would make the game unplayable due to lag.

Ya i have a gate room in operation. No way you get past the front door though, unless you tunnel through a wall or something.

Nevermind, didn't say a thing. No walls to tunnel through, none at all.

*further updates to 1.6.4. Mentions ridiculous CPU usage.

**Muuuch better. No probs on the hardware now. Gating is weird though; keep ending up in the same 2 spots: gate near Geno's cacti farm and fort hell alpha or something. I wanna go home.

Hell-base Alpha.

Yeah, there's a problem with gates being close together...going to have to build gates on the Nether side I think.

Hmmm, just tried to dig with a shovel in the Nether, got a time-out and now can't reconnect...

Yeah, working on it... I may have nudged the power cable loose on the main HD while I was putting another one in the bracket. Windows didn't like that, and it kinda seems like I will have to restore to last backup, from this morning just before update.

Sorry about any inconvenience.

*fixed, but rolled back to backup.

Well, I see no need for them anyway. There is no day/night cycle to speed through. And the portal is pretty much your spawn point there. But a Nasty Notch indeed!

RTFM! Always unplug the machine if you are messing with the hardware! Even a toaster manual would have sufficed for that.

(Pisces silently hides in a corner knowing how much of a hypocrite he is. Been there, done that, and walked away with it with harddisk unscaved. )

I know, I know. Just wanted to use the hotswap capability to avoid disturbing normal operations.

Not like I'm that heavy-handed though. Just a SATA power connector that wiggled loose. They're notorious for that.
