Now that is interesting to note Chris because I have been tempted on the odd occasion in the past to consider purchasing something from Franklin Mint.

Yeah that thing was huge. I don't think it will fit into my display cabinet (that picture doesn't give it justice). But it is pretty and the size makes possible showing all the rivets and everything not possible with 1/72. The only thing that kind of a let down was that the missiles were not given detailed painting. They were just all white.
![]() I will go back to scrutinize that huge Flanker in 2 weeks( wouldn't want a sloppy production). If I find it to be of decent quality worth the price tag I'll pick one home and post pictures of it.

One thing for sure is I know the item is rare
![]() Gaincorp in the past is known to have run on limited production basis and they are likely to never go back to their old models or livery. I got my 2 Gaincorps, a Flanker and an Eagle for what I consider a bargain price(less than 15 bucks each then). I know they are not of the best quality but to be honest they are not bad either. They are pretty decent to me. Then they were the first company that did a Flanker in 1:72.

There are two things I consider before I make a purchase:
1. The purchase price 2. Do i want it badly enough to pay that price |

1. The purchase price 2. Whether the quality matches the purchase price or even exceed my expectation. 3. Desirability. If I think it's good for my longevity I'll buy it ![]() I'm not going to buy anything for my hobby which I consider below my quality expectation. I mean I buy hobby stuffs because I like them so I will not settle on buying less than desirable quality hobby stuffs. If I can't afford it I will not buy it or save the money to get it later if it's too good to be passed. what I avoid is usually toyish look of model. I scrutinized a Hobby Master MiG-21MF yesterday and it was tagged at US$45.00 and I must say it looked awfully toyish. The panel lines are quite a shame. I would not buy it even at half the price. Of course toyish look can still be forgiven for diecast otherwise diecast would not have a chance. It can be redeemed by any other quality characteristic or feel other than just look. The older Minichamp tanks that I collect for example won my love for its weighty feel and independent wheel suspension. But I must admit for look and look alone, I think model kit has the upper hand hands down plus the customization. The downside that it takes much effort, patience and time and it's very very vulnerable that a case is a must unless you want to see it destroyed in the next 5 year.

Hope to receive some diecast today and/or tomorrow, awaiting the arrival of the Hunter and the Canberra...fingers crossed. |

Matchbox has stopped making the 1/72 collectible in this particular collection Some can be found at website stores. Mostly ebay. Many going for much more then I paid for them when gotten off the shelve at Target.

It is a good link as it has other pics of diecast collectables. The Corgi B25 is sweet.

TBH the ships are a tad sparse in detail...it's the subject matter that intrigues me most with them.

The Hunter has arrived meaning I'm only waiting delivery of the Canberra to complete the 'Boscombe Down' section of the collection.
This is one of 5000 made which makes it far less rare than the majority of the remainder of my collection. http://www.tricatus.co.uk/CorgiAA_pages/AA32703.htm ![]() ![]() |
