^ Your picture made me remember when my female cat, which I have now saw herself in the mirror for the first time.
Her tail became double the size, her claws came out she and other things In other words a cat who's prepared to fight another cat. Markus

First time ours saw himself in a mirror he raised a paw to the surface and presumably, as soon as he realized it was solid he wandered away bored. Now he just ignores them.
He does have odd habits, one of us often needs to provide quality spectating and watch him while he eats and he'll chase us around until we join him in the kitchen. If neither of us are prepared to observe him while he dines, he chases us around or just sits by the door closest to wherever we are, mewling until one of us surrenders to enjoy the spectacle of a floofy black cat chowing down on his rations. We have him on a dusk to dawn curfew as he would often get into fights with other cats during the night time. As soon as the first blush of daylight appears he will wake me up to be let out. I can no longer read in bed as he will inculcate himself between myself and the book, usually with his butt in my face. As soon as the book goes away, he turns around and snuggles into my shoulder with his front paws around my neck. For some reason he likes to have food in his bowl before he goes outside and it's the strangest thing that I have seen from a cat. He will get really and loudly vocal in the kitchen but refuses to go out when the door is opened. Once he sees you put food in his dish he will trot over to one of the doors to go out without even checking out what's in the bowl. When he returns he heads straight for the meal and either cries for an audience or eats without one. If there's a pattern here, I have yet to figure it out. He will be seven in May and has only learned to play in the last year. Attempts to play with him until then were unsuccessful as he got bored and wandered away in 30-seconds or less. Now he plays hard with a knitted catnip mouse on a boot lace but little else. He has zero interest in the cat-laser and catnip has no apparent effect on him although he does love to eat it. Sometimes when he's being fussy, I will sprinkle some 'nip on his canned food and then he inevitably empties the bowl. provided I watch him eat. TLDR - Yes, Cats certainly do have their ways. -C |

He doesn't drink milk but he loves shredded cheddar cheese. A couple of years ago he caught an upper respiratory infection and stopped eating. The vet gave him antibiotics and said that most cats will not eat anything that they cannot smell and with the URI he probably could not smell his food. She recommended nuking his canned-food meal because it enhanced the odour and it worked but now just about everything needs 7-seconds in the microwave before it's suitable for eating.
Ya, spoiled. See post #2337 below with thanks to Reece for facilitating. -C Last edited by Randomizer; 03-17-21 at 08:26 AM. |

A pretty Tabby, cool and apparently liking the car. We're not on Facebook though so thanks for the copy/paste. It never occurred to me to try that.

We had a mirror up against the wall on the floor of our hallway for months - I just hadn't gotten around to hanging it. Our cats must have walked right by it hundreds of times. But one day, one of them noticed her reflection. She was startled, at first, to see another "strange" cat in the house. Then she peeked around behind the mirror to see if the other cat was there. Upon finding nothing, she lost interest and never acknowledged her reflection again. Cats are so weird.
