Well first a hi to all of you since this is my first post in the GWX Forum!!!
I recently installed SH3 again, and I had the TGW Mod but I thought well letīs see what news there is on the Mod. And look at that, the new GWX is out, wow! I must say a great thank you and give my greatest respect to the modders and creators of this wonderful mod. You guys did a tremendous job, you made (and still make as I can see) what SH3 should be in the first place. Not only a "true" simulatiuon but a reconstruction of the U-Boat War! You have added so many things that Iīm in awe of your work! So, I have a question considering the armament of the ships? I took a trip into the "Museum" (of SH3) to take alook at all the new Ships you added. And what follows is no complain at all, just a observation, maybe it was discussed before, donīt get me wrong! Mostly on the "Big" Ships like Battleships, Carriers, Cruisers etc. I compared the armament in the Info Table with the actual "visible" armament on the 3-D Model. And I recognised that there are several missing? I know there are different layouts for the different years in service. E.g. like the Iowa the Info Table says something like 40x AA-Guns (donīt know exactly the name but you get the picture what I mean). But I canīt actually make them out (see them). And I donīt think you guys did a sloppy Info on the ships (I think you have a far greater knowledge of the WW2 Ships than I do!!!). Iīve been wondering why is that, are they "there" but not visible or not "there"? So my first thought was, this is due to the SH3 engine, a limitation or whatever. Does anyone know the Game "Pacific Fighters"? The ships where armed with fully displayed and maned guns, thats what comes to my mind when i roam the Museum in SH3.Maybe the ship models arenīt finished yet, hmm! Could anyone explain this phenomenon to me, that would be realy great. Thank you for any answer and help in advance. Greetz Dr.Zod |

You are correct on the Iowa
The ship does have the 24 40mm onboard but none of the 20mm or 2pdrs The museum shows what the ship had in RL Unfortunately the original builder ( Gerome73 ) didnt add all the extra nodes required to add all the extra guns Takes a bit of work to add extra nodes Obviously stock ships suffer the same Nice spot though |

So itīs not an game engine problem, that would have been strange! Well it sure is a lot of work to remodell or make a new ship from scratch. But nevertheless it is possibel. Are there any 3-D Models for SH3 out there that a accurate in detail, if so can you diect me to them? Thanx Greetz Dr.Zod |

Well it is a game engine problem from an FPS POV
If the Iowa had all those other guns on and opened up your game would stall Unfortunately in the SH3 world all guns are treated the same IE Flak guns will open up on other heavy units when in RL they wouldnt and only the large calibre would Most models in SH3 are accurate - especially Geromes Just some dont carry all the guns they did have |

Didnīt know that about the guns, why the hell would the do that (treat all as same, that is lame:rotfl:, small joke)? And that raises the question is it possible to edit the gun behaviour? The Models are great, donīt get me wrong! But you recognized probably allready, Iīm a great fan of realism and detail. Well nobody is perfect (but GWX comes close to). Well it wouldnīt be GWX if it were lite!!!
But you can search for small mods and add what you prefere to your game. Use JSGME to add them makse it easyier to manage. Oh and I have a question that doesnīt belong exactly in the GWX Forum, but Iīll ask anyway! Does anyone know or better said have experience with Racerboys SH4 Effects for SH3. It sounds good. Or are the stock GWX Effects better or are they even reworked? I gave RacerboyS Efects a shot and there are some changes to the water and the funnel smoke (first that I noticed). But it would take me days to check out all effects since loading time isnīt the shortest! So If anyone has some experience in this mini Mod please share your oppinion. I have two questions concerning GWX 1.04. First, will loading times increase with respect to GWX 1.03? Or maybe decrease? Second, Kpt. Lehmann once mentioned a GW (X?) version without swastikas. Is such a release still planned? Thanks for any comments. Cheers, LGN1 |
