Images of U-51 Class model, the improved version. Note the following:
-More rivets -More detailed CT -Many more 3d components -Rounded hull cross section -Riveted panels on the saddle tanks -Portholes on Conning Tower, port & starboard -Handholds and life buoys for deck crew And more. Preparing AO maps for non-player units..... A destructible, low poly warehouse based on a historical, 1900's era Northern European building....part of the comprehensive harbor makeover to remove SH4's aging, WWII Pacific Theatre buildings.

I IRC you can have ten playable subs ingame and I plan to use every slot! The great thing about WW1 submarines is how different the classes were! There is a huge difference in campaign experience between a UBI mini sub and a huge U-139 U-cruiser. Or a U-31 (6 torpedoes) and a U-87 (16 torpedoes). So far I have 4 playable subs in near acceptable condition plus two others that are modeled but need remedial, hi-detail work.

I think that you can add even more if configure them as evolutions of an existing model

If anyone is interested in contributing, I would like to offer you some of my work product - the WOTK planning tables! Basically it's the guts of WOTK planning - a large spreadsheet containing much of what has been, or is planned to be included in the mod. From dialogue to ships to torpedo types. I might be interested in bouncing ideas off other people & working out the game's RP elements. All you need is MS Excel or an equivalent spreadsheet program to read it. This is a good opportunity for anyone who doesn't know how to model, but can write well or think of good game elements. Note that WOTK is NOT going to devolve into a Role-Playing game. The focus will still be finding and sinking ships; I just need, for instance, basic background stories for sailors, soldiers, civilians, and airmen who may be encountered during ship boarding/lifeboat sighting sequences. Or diaries, secret instructions, etc that may be found. If you can think up a hotshot WWI flying ace character, a pretty young lady, a crazy merchant ship sailor, then great. PM me and I can give you the table.

CTD - it's not just a job
|
Phwew! Had me worried for Climb Mount Niitaka with that. There's lots of "cousins" and even "siblings" in it. What happens if you add too many boats? Do you start to lose conning towers on the submarines in say Quick Missions?... - or do they just not show up?
Your mod is looking more and more stellar as each day passes, iambecomlife! Lots of parts to fit together, but keep chipping away at the stone! - This definitely looks to be much more than a mere "mod". Looking forward to stepping back into the time frame of my Grandpa's youth... He was a US Army Signalman in France during the Great War. |

Interesting about your grandpa; this mod is, above all, a tribute to those who experienced this in real life. Whether as sailors or as passengers from 1914-1918. After all, when things went wrong they could not hit a "reset" button and make it all better. Major respect to the better men who came before us. Thank you to those who have contributed books, pictures, or offered to write background stories; I have PM'd a link to the WOTK tables that I use for the game. Please keep in mind it is incomplete, and always growing.

Coming along nicely, this!
Here's two book recommendations for people: The Maritime Flank of the Western Front: The Development and Operations of the German Marinekorps Flandern 1914-1918 and War Beneath the Waves: U-Boat Flotilla Flandern 1915-1918 Mike.

Afraid not, no, looks like physical copies only.
"War Beneath the Waves" is also available in Dutch and German, if that helps? Mike.

War beneath the waves revieew from "in depth"
https://www.google.be/url?sa=t&sourc...p4zotzB_ZK99Ug Most book reviewed for ‘In Depth’ have concerned the activities of Royal Navy and Allied Submarines during the two World Wars. This new book is different in that it covers the activities of the Imperial German Navy ‘Flanders Flotilla’ during World War I. The author, Thomas Termode, is a naval historian who has researched his subject in depth in more ways than one! Not only has he conducted extensive research in the Archives in Germany, Belgium and UK on all the UB and UC-Boats which formed the Flanders Flotilla - covering their Patrols, their Commanding Officers and Crews - and their fates but, as a fully qualified diver, he has dived on many of the lost UB & UC-Boats found to date in the southern North Sea and the Dover Straits and is therefore well placed to describe the wrecks. The amount of detail available is most impressive. If you want to know the construction and engineering details of a particular UB or UC-Boat, it is here. Details of the construction of the U-Boat bases in Belgium are here. Career and family details of various U-Boat Commanders are here. Information on ships sunk, torpedoes fired, minefields laid and U-Boats lost is here. The book is full of photographs of the U-Boats and Crew members at sea and in harbour. The book is also a sobering reminder of the efforts made by the boats of the Flanders Flotilla to disrupt and destroy Allied merchant and naval shipping but also of the efforts of the Royal Navy to destroy the Flanders Flotilla. Some of the opinions expressed might be conjectured and, in places, the wording is difficult to read and needs to be read twice to understand the meaning but I suspect that this the result of translation into the English language. However, all things considered, it is a ‘tour de force’ by Thomas Termode and is well worth reading by the naval historian (both amateur and professional) and will be a valuable addition to your reference libraries. _________________________________________ “War Beneath the Waves” is published by the Uniform Publishing Group, 101, Wardour Street, London W1F 0UG. The Absolutely Crazy Way Britain Tried to Kill German Submarines in World War I
The Absolutely Crazy Way Britain Tried to Kill German Submarines in World War I
Charles Domville-Fife, writing in 1919 just after the war was over, described Lance Bombs as “conical explosive bombs on the ends of broom handles! A strong man could whirl one of them round his head, like a two-handed sword or battle-axe, and, when the momentum was sufficient, hurl it over the water for about seventy-five feet. On nose-diving into the water and hitting the hull of a submarine in the act of rising or plunging, the little bomb, containing about 7 lb. of amatol, was exploded by contact.” http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the...l-german-20641 |

Thanks again Keltos.
Environmental update (tweaked again!) Now the fog is a better color; all colors are richer and less washed out. Additional crew with preset animations; you can have them man the rail when entering port like "Aces of the Deep". U-31 type in heavy weather. U-31 sub is due to be revamped with higher detail conning tower, etc. More images later.......
