My latest concern is who will replace him?

I can't see any self-respecting manager willing to work under the conditions RAFA put up with, unless of course they are a 'yes man'.

A number of names are being bandied about, but an interesting one for me is Arteta. But you're right, the conditions at the club and for the new manager seem to rule out some of the higher profile potential hires.

Of the 33 managers to manage at least 200 league games in the Premier League, Bruce has the second lowest winning percentage after Robbo of all people.

Hard to see what's in this for Newcastle. Safe hands? Hardly.

Best name available? Nah.

Will do as Ashley wants? Ding ding.

Newcastle swung and missed with this hire in my estimation. Here was a chance to get someone younger, more progressive, more in-touch with the modern game. Steve Bruce is none of those things. But if he stays up....
