Default At the moment Torps I just want to make most of it 1.4 compatable

Once I have that solved I will work on making it okay with other mods.

I am not happy about having to redo work but at least my memory is good enough to change the figures on the new 1.4 files without having to double check much in the old work.

Just upset that I have to fix half the file in my JSGME folder as well as the mod.

Kind of upset about that!

I am going to play tonight and see how most of what I did is working.

I'm running TM with ROW textures and sun halo camera flair and all is well. I'm waiting for news on the major ROW mods though.

Glad you guys like the new sounds. It took a lot of experimenting to get the right effect for the new hydrophone sounds, so it's good to hear you guys approve of them as well.

I think I've thoroughly worn out Leo with all these sound updates, so I'm going to focus more on RFB now. Not coincidentally, though, my work there is heavily involved in sound modding as well.

Keeping the engines running when at All Stop had a two-fold purpose: (1) being able to move quickly again when need be, and (2) the diesels were needed to run the machinery inside the boat without running down the batteries. After all, they were diesel generators, not just diesel engines.

Only critism is the engine not turning off when standing still.
Kriller:
I think someone down the line somewhere said they kept the idle engine sound on because usually subs were running thier diesel engines to power lights and stuff.

Dave:
I am staying at version 1.3 because it's just not worth being forced to play a game without your effects! Hang in there and just go at your own pace.

Default off topic but I thought you guys could enjoy a laugh...

...Tonight a programmer buddy of mine, who is in the Army Reserve, was hammering out some code next to me when we started talking and something in our conversation got him to quote the old "our colors never run" slogan, then he paused and quipped, "come to think of it, our programs never run, either." :rotfl:

Same here! I'd much rather wait until everything is complete, and then install everything at once, instead of bit by bit

Just to elaborate a little, the main diesels drove generators which in turn supplied electrical power to motors which, through reduction gears (kind of like an automobile transmission) drove the propeller shafts. The generators also supplied the boat's electical power. Some boats had an auxiliary diesel genreator (called a dinky) that could supply the boat's electical loads if needed. Botton Line: Unless the boat was connected to shore power or running on the battery (rarely happened on the surface) there was a diesel running

Okay. Thanks for the explanation all I will take it back

On to topic: Leo how is it going? - I think we all are waiting on a new scene.dat to use with ROW, so it would be abosutely wonderfull if you can take a look at that as a first priority.

Keep up the good work and take it easy if it's possible to do both :hmm: :rotfl:

this was a great addition Luke. I dont use your entire sound profile. I only use most of it. which files enable the engines to be heard running while at a stop?
