Second update--XP64pro-resolution change for SH3

Hello All,

Just installed the SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b and it didn't change the resolution for my shiii-GWX game. I'm running the xp64pro and altering SHIII seem different in my case. I could be wrong. But...

For example:
Changing the resolution in the main config. file located in My Documents has definately changed the resolution in my SHIII vanilla game. In the submarine for instance, the Eng. Officer fills up my screen, head to toe(I used the same mission for consistency). When I change the before mention config. file to 1280 x 1024 the Eng off. is of a higher resolution. THat is to say, with his feet at the bottom of my screen, there is over an inch between his head and the top of my screen. Remember, before he filled my entire screen. That is one proof. I've taken measurements of other things as well.

Still, it remains that I have failed at changing my SHIII-GWX resolution. I've tried the res-fix but with no luck. ANy ideas???:hmm: I'd love to make the change. THanks for the help.

Hello,
I need to bother you again with some questions. This time it is about the rank system.
I was playing a career and got promoted to kapitänleutnant. Then I went to my next patrol and when I returned to base I got "promoted" to oberleutnant z.s. How is it possible to lose your rank like this?
How exactly does the rank system in GWX work?

The rank system in SH3 is related with your current renown. If your current renown is less than what it is required to have the rank you will be demoted. It's a pain I know but if you do your job properly (i.e. sink loads of ships) you should have enough renown to upgrade your boat and not lose your rank

I have a question about GWX 1.04. Kpt Lehmann said before that in GWX 1.04 ships on the map (including your own boat) will no longer have "tails". I'd like to know if this is something we just have to live with, or is it an optional feature that can be switched on and off by using the JSGME tool?
Would it be particularly difficult to make it optional? I think losing the tails makes the game more difficult and some players (like me) would like to keep them as they are.

I actually moaned about the exact same thing during the testing phases of this. However I since come to get used to it, its not as difficult as it seems at first. It is irritating to begin with because the tail gives you a convoys EXACT heading, so intercepting it and getting into a strong attack position is not overtly difficult and makes your life a lot easier.

U-boats, never actually had such precise data, and so when they did chase convoys it was done pretty much on generality a so called "that-a-way" premise. You will get exact headings when you zoom in really close to yourself and to the ship you are hunting. So for that part, GWX 1.04 will still be easily accessible to the casual player.

When you are given a contact information message, you will see on the map the contacts present position and their current general heading. So if you think of it like a clock, where 12 o'clock is dead north, 3 o'clock is dead east, and so on....

When you get a convoy headed south south east, you'd get your ruler and draw a line from the convoy down along a sort of 5 o'clock direction. That gives you a rough, but yet not 100% accurate idea of their heading, then you draw a line from your position to the convoy and go from there.

On 1.03, you still had to estimate the convoys speed and where they would be when you arrived. Though you had the exact heading. of the convoy. Really though, that is as hard as it makes it this time, you just don't know the EXACT heading.

I swear to you, this is not lies or a con to put you off... anybody on the team will tell you how much stink I kicked up over the removal of the tails... and now, I told Kpt. L on teamspeak, I had grown to like the removal of the tails. That is honest to gods truths there...

At least give the new way a try first before passing judgement, give it the benefit of the doubt. I'd put money you'll like the results.

To re-enable the tails for contacts will be really easy, it's just a single file replacement.

While we will not make it an optional mod within GWX's package, we will provide details and/or the graphic so that you can have the tails back.

EDIT - LOL, what Pen said.

....and if you want the easiest of peasiest careers you can use this:

http://files.filefront.com/GWX+Conta.../fileinfo.html

(JSGME installable) which will put not only the tails but also the colours back in (apart from the colours to new additional ships 'they remain grey').

My lad swears by it
