It sounds bad, and it may be bad. On the other hand this may be a classic case of context. What are the political leanings of that source?

My attempt was to equate lean government to a government that loses some pounds, that's why I put 'diety' in bold letters, as in diet - in contrast to a deity.

Take free religion, but take guns first. Both would end up with violent consequenses.

I truly want to know what parts of the bill of rights do neo-cons deem acceptable? Just so I know who to shoot, when the stuff goes down.

(not calling you a neo-con in particular, you come across as neutral August, just a general question so nothing personal, just used your comment as a "springboard")
You're making a couple of assumptions here that aren't all that valid.

First one is you and your AR-15 having to go head to head with an Abrams tank. There's a better than even chance that the crew of the Abrams would join your side bringing their tank with them. Military folks are pretty patriotic people and very few would willingly let themselves be made tools of an oppressive government bent on domestic tyranny. Besides being too scared to oppose tyrant only guarantees his success.

Second thing is that you're using an inaccurate and disparaging term to describe the political opposition which is an easy way to villify large groups of people. "Neo-cons" was created by a Socialist to describe other liberals who didn't align closely enough with the Soviet model of government and were seen as moving to the right. Daniel Patrick Moynihan being one of the more prominent Liberals to which this term was applied.

The elephant in the YT link may point to some bias . However they also show the 2 sentences before, this may clear the context in which it was meant.
"We are committed to all people. We do believe you can use your government in any good way."

However the wording of the following sentence is chosen quite badly. It was spoken by a professional speaker, so this sentence looks quite intentional.

What strikes out that the video has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is quite uncommon for a video from 2012.

While that comment has some truth to it, there is a difference between those who try to use the government to do good things and those who think that government is the answer to all our problems. I tend to agree with Haplo on this, but I want to know more about what was behind it.

And it was written by a professional writer, which also indicates that it is intentional. That said, I have to wonder what came after that sentence, and why it was cut short at that point. It sounds like he may have been trying to foster a closer connection to the government for his listeners, and seriously misspoke. Whatever the case, of course the "other side" is already making hay with this. Highly entertaining.

Source says different don't it.
You only have one national government don't you.
Under a constitutional republic the government represents the people, which means you are part of it.
It is the only thing you all belong to, well apart from the human race though there is some debate in certain quarters over that.

So the news is ....oh no it is shocking the evil team D say citizens all hold membership of the big club that is the government.

What I find the most entertaining is that there are actually people who believe that a President from Team R would actually abolish intrusive governmental politics

Oh for crimeny's sake, "belong" has more than one meaning. When your dear old aunt says she belongs to a bridge club, do you really envision her in chains and being forced to shuffle cards for everyone else? This is so friggin' stupid.

Intentionally misquoting and mischaracterizing the opposition's statements must be the GOP's playbook for this election.

I totally missed that sublime difference and apologize that I assumed it was meant to have a different meaning.

I think you mean Pinocchio - because whichever one wins, you can bet that they told a few fibs to get there.

You mean like the DNC chair claiming she was "misquoted" - and then the audio being released proving that she was quoted exactly?

Yea - its always the evil, lying republicans....

Fixed that for you.

There are A LOT of them around here. Every one close minded, narrow viewed, and totally convinced of their own moral superiority.

I should start naming names.

Exactly.

How about Massachusetts Senate Candidate and DNC speaker Elizabeth Warren who falsely claimed to have American Indian heritage in order to get a cush Harvard University teaching gig?

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...ses-questions/

Now you'd think getting caught in such a heinous lie the Democrats would have disowned her but apparently lying for material gain doesn't count as long as there's a (D) after her name.
