Aparently there's a chance of a mob spawning at your bed. Dowly dug up some info somewhere.

From minecrafwiki

Quote:
When used, the player is positioned in the bed and their view slowly fades to gray. After this transition, the player wakes up at dawn. However, if a mob is within proximity of the bed and has access to it, you will be awakened with the mob standing next to you. There appears to be a slight delay before the mob attacks you giving you time to get the first blow.
Seems it has been edited, before it read that mob can spawn even in well lit places when player uses the bed.

Ah, so it's intentional. Nothing beats waking up to a creeper next to you. What does it mean by have access though? Wouldn't doors work to prevent this?

Sometimes you drink a little to much.. and things get a little loose.. next thing you know somebody is sssss in your ear.. one thing leads to another and you wake up the next morning and there is a creeper.. don't judge spike.
